I'm not sure about this but I heard the Final Fantasy games were no longer going to be exclusively to Playstation, mainly because of the whole Bluray formating fallout.

Actually, Blu-ray ray is currently the winning format.

Since their launch, 3.01 million Blu-ray Discs have been sold, compared to the 1.97 million HD-DVD discs (statistics ending the month of September 2007).

Also, technically speaking, Blu-ray is superior in more areas than HD-DVD is.

Also, space wise, HD-DVD has only been developed up to a triple layer disc, holding 51GB of free space. Blu-ray already has quad layer discs that can hold 100GB, and TDK has already announced they've created a six layer 200GB Blu-ray disc.

Personally, I could care less about the whole battle between the two. It's just like the DVD/Laserdisc battle, which we all know who won.

Personally, I think Blu-ray will become the winning format.

My reasoning behind this is that Japanese people seem to be supprting the Blu-ray format ALOT more than HD-DVD. Japan is the technological mecha of the world, thus if they support it, it will eventually be the winning format.

Although, this could all be settled by buying one of those hybrid HD-DVD/Blu-ray players, but I heard those are quite expensive.

Irregardless, I don't expect Final Fantasy XIII on anything other than PS3, because thats what Square-Enix has stated, over and over again.

On topic, thanks for the links. I won't lock the topic, since it's relevent to the interests of many people here. Next time, don't be lazy and actually find the proper topic, though.

I'm not doubting that Blu-ray is a far better format and that it's now starting to pull away from HD. I just know a lot of software companies were not happy when Sony decided to make the PS3 Blu-ray only, because that means more work for them writing it both in normal and Blu-ray code. I thought I read something about Sony losing exclusivity of the Final Fantasy brand because of this, but again I could be wrong.

Incidentally, I can't seem to get the links to go through. Is it just me?

Japan supported Sony's MiniDisc (MD) and that got me nowhere.

Those trailers are also up on GameTrailers.com

Thats not why people dislike the PS3.

They dislike the PS3 because programming for it is a pain in the ass.

Appearantly, programming for the Cell processor takes alot of extra time and resources, and developers don't like that. Although, I have heard that in an interview, Tomonobu Itagaki, the head of Team Ninja, told people to stop bitching about it. I guess he got sick of hearing people whine, he appearantly stated that the of course it's gonna take time to get used to the new technology of the PS3 (Programming for the Xbox 360 is almost exactly the same as the Xbox, I gues), but the benefits of using it to its full potential will far outweight the negatives of longer production times.

Thats just what I heard, though.

Also, those videos were awesome.

Was that guy a sword dancer? 😀

Very interesting, indeed. Although, I guess the same could be said about Kuchiki Byakuya from Bleach. Before then, the only sword dancer I had seen was Santa from Dragon Pink (An ability he only demonstrates in the last episode of the OVA).

Actually programming for both the Xbox and the Xbox360 is extremely simple from what i heard... (I have a friend who did an internship in Ubisoft Montreal last summer... the one behind Prince Of Persia)
It uses C# and basic DirectX library, making programming for both platforms extremely similar to programming for PC.

And about the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray, it's true that the Blu-Ray is the superior standard, but the market doesn't always chose the superior standard. A lot of other factors needs to be accounted for, like how many companies are backing up which standard, and how "powerful" this companies are. And most importantly the cost factor.

But meh, this isn't our current topic right?
Both trailers are awesome, I can't wait to have a chance at playing both. But the PS3 is too expensive for me.

While that is true, aswell, I would also like to point out that the further devloping Blu-ray discs are getting cheaper and cheaper because they keep developing them.

The cheapest price I have seen for a single layer Blu-ray disc is a little over $13 bucks, while the cheapest price, comparitively, for a single layer HD-DVD is just a little over $16 bucks (Prices taken from Amazon.com). Ironically, the Blu-ray disc has 10GB more space, too.

This is just to prove that further development of the Blu-ray format is eventually going to keep lowering prices (until they're maybe comparible to DVD's (thats a bit of time away, I think, though), while development of HD-DVD has been finalized (although companies are still trying to further develop it, however, they foolishly made the technology to read/write the discs not able to understand such a multilayered disc (The disc has ten layers, and is 150GB).

Back on topic, anyone confirmed that guy was a sword dancer? 😀
