I'm very curious about what people's favorite style of comedy is! In the American style, we have things like Seinfeld, Friends, The Simpsons, etc. And in the British style, we have Monty Python, Blackadder, Absolutely Fabulous, etc.

I'm DEFINITELY a fan of British humor! Gets me every time. So British comedy has my vote... I just love the dry and slightly twisted approach that British comedy often has, not to mention the surrealist/nonsensical vein that rose to popularity with Monty Python, humanity's greatest contribution to comedy (or so I believe).

That said, if I had to choose a favorite comedian, it would be the uber-American Stephen Colbert. <3 Well, I think he has more in common with the British "style," but he IS American!

What about you? 😀

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

I've seen a few British talk shows and a few British movies and I have to say, I laugh more with British comedy rather than American comedy. So British comedy has my vote 😉

I vote for British comedy. I remember watching The Ruling Class. I admit I first watched it because of Peter O'Toole (how gorgeous he was! 😮 ), but then that film just showed me a whole new level of comedy, 😲 like it belongs to a different class. I absolutely love how quirky and clever the British jokes are. And the sarcasm too. I feel like the Americans do it louder and bigger, but that is not really appealing to me. But I do love SNL during the presidential election.

I don't know that I've ever thought about it in concrete terms and preference. I just like comedy, but, maybe British? I love Monty Python, and have a bunch of clips favorited on my Youtube account. When I was a teenager, I would stay up late with my mom to watch episodes of Are You Being Served? on PBS. haha. Now that was a funny show.

But we also watched the Red Green Show and now I catch clips of Whose Line is it Anyway (the American version). So it's a toss.

I don't get alot of British comedy. The jokes go over my head or something. So, my vote is on American. :]

I am going to say american comedy. I do want to say though that those are some unbalanced representations of British and American Comedy. Monty Python and Blackadder are much better shows than Simpsons and Friends. So based off that I think that British Comedy is better.
As for myself though I prefer standup to sitcoms. In that regard I would say that American Comedy far outstrips British. While I do enjoy a couple British comics the dry acerbic wit that most Brit comics employ can be found in American comics as well. I do think that the US is a more diverse population though and that is why its comics are better.
Overall, I would give American Comedy standup no contest and British Comedy sitcoms. The US just does not have good comedy shows and any that they do seem to be based off of either standup or British sitcoms.

For me it's British comedy, cause I recently noticed that the comedies I enjoy the most have British-style comedy (Ones where the protagonist(s) are funny but complete assholes that almost never get what they want in the end). My favorite comedy "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" is a perfect example of that.

I prefer subtle or dry comedy to overt, slapstick comedy most of the time. Mainstream American culture doesn't seem to have the same preference, so I shy away some of it, like Family Guy, etc. However, I don't really prefer British comedy. I prefer older comedy, or 'the idiot and the straight man' type stuff.

So I don't vote for either.

British, in books, tv, and standup comedy.

...of course, I also like Canadian. 😎
Britain and America aren't the only two places in the world with a sense of humour.

This may seem a bit patriotic. But with hilarious shows like: Red Dwarf, Black Adder and Fawlty towers, the british take it away for me.

Yeah, I know oldies. But hey, their still good.

I'm on the fence. I like both. xD

But I must say, Achmed the dead terrorist is an attention-grabber for me...

"Silence!! I kill you!!" Jeff Dunham is my all time fav!!

I'd definitely have to go with American comedy, I like it better.
