Either a "tag" or a "format" category could solve these, I really want to skip those "series".

I think that bundling narrative formats like "4-koma", "POV story" (the ones that Twitter often has), "4 pages story" (another Twitter type manga) would do good.

These stories published on twitter often seek to maximize reader impact and tend to bait a lot of shock value. Maybe that should also be a tag.

I get confused on these a lot. Do they count for cataloging here if it's a self-published Twitter comic - what length & interval qualify? I know doujinshi are allowed but they have their own tag and I wonder if it would be best to bundle it under doujinshi since it implies self-publishing. Or maybe "web doujinshi"?

I created this thread because when I searched the GB manga section, there were too many results that consist of these self-published Twitter "manga". I'm unsure if they all belong there, particularly the ones by "Itora".

We need a method to filter them.

In my view, a "doujinshi" is a series that the author has taken the time to list somewhere, like Toranoana. Even though it's self-published, there's often an intermediary. It should be compiled, at the very least.

Some Twitter manga do have good ideas, but they are the exception, not the norm. The majority are low-effort attempts to generate clickbait.

Here's how I propose we categorize them (a standard to follow; or a new specifications):

Title: The name of the series.
Author: The author's name.
Publisher: Whether it's self-published or the name of the publisher. If it's Twitter then let's just write Twitter (self-published).
Distribution Mode: Print or Digital.
Publication Frequency: The length and frequency of chapters (20 pages/week, for example).
Setting: Historical, Modern, Futuristic, Prehistoric.
Genre: Categories such as Adventure, Romance, Fantasy, etc.
Themes: Elements like Magic, Monsters, Isekai, School Life, etc.
Content Warnings: Indicators of content such as R18, Violence, etc.
Format: The structure of the manga (4koma, standard structure, long continuous strip, or single-panel page).
Status: Whether it's ongoing, completed, on hiatus, or discontinued.

A format like this might help us avoid false positives and provide a more user-friendly database.

I appreciate the feedback. We're working on updating our front end to make it easier to develop new features. Once that's done we can look at suggestions like this.

On this website it clearly states that original manga are not "doujinshi", so people can differentiate between doujinshi based on series and self published doujinshi that are original( so those aren't labeled "doujinshi" )
