You guys and gals are overlooking the big picture. The wealthiest people in the world are primarily male so that should answer that.

Males do spend much more money in general as well. It just seems like women do because they have crazy amounts of clothing and don't get me started on shoes. Also don't forget the homosexuals and let's not forget that male rappers spend 95% of their income in strip clubs and throwing it in the air during music videos.

Definitely depends on the person.

Depends on how much money is in his/her wallets and if he/she likes to splurge/enjoy things -- from clothes to electronics to simply going out: dining, theatres, bars, etc...

I enjoy spending my money on food. looooool. And coffee/tea shops...
My mom likes spending on clothes and accessories but only when they're reasonably priced.
My dad loves shoes... too many shoes... and electronics.

Yay! I'm actually glad that there a good number of votes for Depends on the person! 😀
In the end, if this option wasn't here, I'd say -- The same. It evens out in the end...

I'd say it depends on the person...

While my mom enjoys shopping, she is very careful with her money and only buys things at low prices and good deals. Also, she can make her own sweaters, scarves and shawls. But still, she likes shopping often. Shops often but doesn't spend much.

On the other hand, my brother spent his money on a huge flat-screen TV, game systems, games, a bunch of mouthwashes, toothbrushes and toothpastes he never used, T-shirts of all sorts, etc. Puts importance in his image and tends to go after popular stuff. Shops a moderate amount and spends lots.

My dad tends to be average when it comes to spending. He pays the more attention to functionality, but considers price overall. Usually. He sometimes ends up spending a whole lot if the functionality is very good...Shops rarely and spends moderately.

As for me (female), I spend a lot on manga as well as things to use in crafts. The manga costs a ton overall, and the craft items are so-so in price. I shop rarely but spend lots.

And what would you choose if there was no middle option?
Male or Female?

lol my brothers do to, they have very impressive wardrobes. Not only do they have more clothing and shoes (omgosh the shoes) they cost more too. (i'm guessing the men on this site aren't dressed to impress)

You've guessed wrong, I'm afraid.

As for who spends more? I'm going to have to say it's about the same, and more based around salary than anything else.

well besides you then. I'm just going on the fact that the other commenters were saying they didn't spend on clothing.

Everyone seems to be choosing the female option based on the fact that they do more shopping...which is true but you guys are overlooking one little fact. The pricing difference between mens and womens clothing. Now im not saying womens clothing are cheap ass...but they kinda of are, alot of them compared to male clothing. So naturaly guys buy less hm?

So the big stereo type is:

Women = shopping, makeup, clothing, jewlery.
man! ARgh! = cars! and women. (yeah, I did say women 🤣 )

So if you are going by stereo type then:
Acording to that...i say men are still a candidate to spend more.

Stereo type aside, then it doesn't matter wich gender you are to determine your spending power
🤣

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

I voted male...
Because out of everyone in my house right now, my dad spends the most while I spend the least. lol Even my little brother spends more than I do on his DSI.

I feel like, though it really depends on the person, women tend to make tons of smaller purchases (like clothes, shoes, etc.) while guys tend to splurge on big things (midlife crisis sports car, giant tv, etc), so it evens out. 😀 But then again, people often don't fit into stereotypes like that, so...yup. it depends.

Though, it should also be considered that people can grow into stereotypes. People whose personalities make them feel they should "fit in", or if they're overly influenced by the opinions of others, those would be people who fit themselves into the stereotype, rather than the stereotype happens to fit them.

man. many women may buy much stuff, but the stuff men buy is more expensive. I know people who collect games, cars ; are going to a bike tour in the sahara every summer (yes, my neighbour does and i don´t know how e is able to do it), etc

this.
why?
personal experience

I remember reading somewhere where an important person said:

"Women spend money buying small, useless things, whereas men spend money buying big, useless things."

Who was it again?

I would say depends on the person...because it mostly depends on how much money you has. If you have more you can spend more. 😀

Quite a few of those were girls, though...

yes, you can definitely spend more if you have the money, but since money is a limitation for most people, it would also limit the amount they buy versus the amount they want or would like to buy.

Me personally, I dislike shopping very much, so I only buy necessary stuff and only buy very few and cheap things per yr not related to school needs.
