Now, I know this isn't really the place for fansubber recruiting but I don't really know of where else to try... (If someone does, then by all means let me know)

I figured I would announce this as early as possible to try and get people to apply…

I am officially recruiting for WhyNot? (which will mainly be a group that simply fixes up official translations onto higher quality video until I can translate better myself or we get a good translator). Also, I may ask you to complete some random test once you apply to make sure you can handle the position.

Positions available:
Encoder – Someone to encode the releases (and/or someone who can teach me how to encode)
Capper/Raw Provider – A capper who could record HD episodes in Japan and could provide the .ts files or help us find good raws. (This is not really necessary because we can get the .ts from other groups but I figured if someone offered it would help even more)
Translator – Someone who can translate from Japanese to English.
Or alternatively someone who can rip the subs from a simulcast/horriblesubs.
Typesetter – Typesetting is placing translated text on the screen. Sometimes signs and karaoke are dealt with by the Typesetter.
Timer – You need to be proficient with Aegisub. I can’t really help much with that so I’d prefer someone who already knows how to use it.
Styling – Styling for the subtitles.
Karaoke – Obvious right? Does the karaoke for the OP/ED
Quality checkers – Make sure the release is good to go before sending it out. Basically, you check for any errors in the release.
(It would be preferable if those who applied can do multiple things such as the typesetter, timer, stylist, and karaoke but I will accept anyone who can fill the position)
Editor – You need to be good with the English language in order to properly edit. Writing is the only skill required for this position. (I will be the main editor but it can’t hurt to have others just in case)

These last two are not entirely necessary yet because we would not be releasing that many shows and are an unknown/new group but it would be awesome if we had them.

XDCC Server Hosts – people that can and are willing to host XDCC servers for the groups releases on our irc channel. these should be as user friendly as possible and preferably available 24/7.
Dedicated Seeders – people who can seed our torrents preferably using seedboxes 24/7. we will accept part time seeds as well.

Just to clarify, I do not have time to do a plethora of shows (that are probably going to be released by better and more established groups) so I only plan to pick up between 1-3 depending on the situation of the simulcasts and translator. The shows I would like to work on are Bakuman, Arakawa Under the Bridge S2 (depending on the status of simulcasting/translator) and the show that interests the staff most after the first week.

All applications should have what position(s) you would like to fill and your experience/an example of your work that I can somehow verify. Since I am starting a brand new group I honestly value commitment rather than experience (since I am new myself) and would prefer to have people willing to help and stick around. I’ve been leeching for a while now and have a somewhat light schedule this semester so I figured I would try and give a little back to the community.

UPDATE: There are only a couple more weeks until the season starts and still no responses… I don’t need a huge amount of people but just enough to be able to release a series or two. I am able to encode myself (if someone can teach me how) and I am able to edit and do other misc things but I am a noob at fansubbing “. I can learn to do some of the other jobs as well so I really just need 2-4 people (the more the merrier though!) to be able to put out releases. I realize it’s hard to commit some time to anything but it’ll be a fun project! Also, I realize it’s really hard and nearly impossible (so far -_-) to recruit for a brand new group with a rookie at the helm but please apply… No one has even responded yet so you are likely to simply get the position as I really need people .
