Trying to remember which series had this minor arc.
There's a yakuza boss who's on his deathbed, and the boss's son is cooped up in a barn and refuses to talk to his dad, according to the right-hand man. The MC reveals that the the son has been dead for a long time and the right-hand man is just keeping up this pretense so he can inherit the organization from the father.
It's pretty random and a longshot, but if anyone knows I'd love to hear it.
