Note:In this post, "romance" will be meaning "romance in manga".

calstine's comment in the I am ___ and prefer reading this kind of romance series pool gave 3 reasons as to why one could have chosen the "I just hate romance series" choice:
1)The presence of romance in a non-romance-centered plot, makes mostly everything predictable

Quote from calstine

I don't like strong romance themes (ie: to the extent that it gets marked in the genre field) in fiction with actual plots, because it (usually) makes the story and characterisation terribly predictable.

2)The resemblance among plots which are romance-centered is excessive

Quote from calstine

...with het it's (usually if not) always like "Oh, I've seen this plot in that other manga, and also in about 10 movies and 5 or 6 anime." ... I'm the kind of person who gets tired of something if she's exposed to it too much, regardless of how good/nice/cute/sweet/exciting a thing it is.

3)I'm asexual and the way most romance is dealt with makes me feel alienated

Quote from calstine

Maybe 'cos I'm asexual, I get sick of romantic relationships in general and the sexual aspect of it in particular very easily, ... this is why same-sex stuff is a better choice for me: since most of them are short and not very involving, I can scratch that itch and move on within a couple of hours.

To these 3 I'm adding 1 obvious reason:

4)I'm aromantic and therefore romance isn't really my cup of tea

and asking those people who find romance somewhat off-putting to vote from the list one reason which mostly describes their case or if none of the first 4 is applicable to choose the last choice:

5)Other reason (specify in the thread)

and specify in the thread one reason which mostly describes their case.
