Believe it or not, my school is totally....errr... varity-ally. We're all thrown in and mixed in. Public "international" schools for nerds, u gota lov them. We got everything : emo's, goths, "jocks", pervs, potheads, otaku's, even a gothic-lolita-ty girl. 😁 , .no cliques that consist of only goths or hispanics or ect.. Basicly our school has a corny atmosphere.............. it's creepy sometimes. 🤢 🤣
at least its sounds interessting mine was boring as hell only 500 people in a tiny school
took 10 min flat to spread a rumour to the entire school no texting only mouth to mouth
always the same faces same crowds same boring ass shit
still i had fun playing onlinegames and talking manga with my friend
strangely enough i was the most knowleagable about manga but sucked at anything else xep english

What teacher assistant do actually? You get a special extra grade if you're a teacher assistant?
In my highschool, TAs get Extracurricular Credit for being a TA. (So, think of it as taking a class w/out homework.) It counts to their 2 years of extracurricular studies (i.e stuff like Guitar, or Criminal Law, or Graphic Design... basically hobby/interest classes) we are forced to take to graduate from my High school.

extracurricular studies 😕 my school didnt give a damn as long as you had a 60%+ in math french and english and in average
and it was a private school in canada
the only difference between that and public school was the fact that they cared if you did something bad (like drugs in school, alcool during school time or around the premis, fights, and harassement) only thing they cared about...

My school had a DS club, where people sit and, big surprise, play DS...
Jocks can be nerds too
wow a DS club would sound totally awesome in my school...where most of them will probably talk about pokemon >_>
we have a storyboard club(u write + draw ur own comic/manga) and an animation club and a gaming club i think that was what it was called and they had a gamecube :3 unfortunately, they only had one game: SSBM.....
The river of life is magnificent and dangerous.

Is it really that interesting like it shown on tv?
Yes and No. Depends.
Is it true that the students are divided into groups like nerds, preps or jocks thing?
Yes and No. Also depends. The boundaries are more extreme in some than others. Some people cross boundaries and are friends with people from different groups. Stereotypes are created from both those judging and those being judge. Some people put themselves in the clique they are in.
Is there really a cool popular thing system? You really not allowed to talk to cool popular kids unless you're popular too? How can you become a popular kid in US school?
Yes, atleast in my HS. You are allowed to talk to them... having that sort of rule is ridiculous 🤣 . But will they talk to you is another thing. How to be popular...? I don't really know. I never really strove to be popular.
Is it true that in the cafetaria there's a designated seats area for groups?
Sort of. Everyone will sit within their own little group of friends. Designated areas are created by the students themselves.
Are those mean girls who loves to make fun of people and order you around like their slave really exist in US school? ;p
I think they exist everywhere. I have never encountered them personally.
Why you have to move and go to other class every time one class ends? You don't just stay in one class and different teachers come into class?
Different students take different classes. It's more convenient to put all the students taking French, for example, in one room. Having a teacher come to a class teach French, when half of the class are not taking it is waste of time for the teacher and the students.
What is that detention thing? Why the teachers lock the students in some kind of room?
Detentions. Usually you stay after school. Sort of like a silent study hall (unless they have you do something). Or it could be on a Saturday (which really sucks if you have other plans).
Are those kissing and smooching things always happen there? Students allowed to kiss in class too? Is it just a common thing there?
It happens, although not as obscene as portrayed in the movies...? Teachers will always tell them to break it off. It's never allowed on school grounds, anyways.
Is there a manga or anime club there? What you do in there usually? Heard from some friend that lots of fun things in school's anime or manga club.
Not in my HS, but I'm sure they exist.
How the students there treat foreign students? Heard local students love to intimidate and pick up fight with foreign students for no reason. Is it really that bad?
Depends on the students. Some are just assholes, some are not. There were several exchange students in my HS and they were treated just fine, even better than others if I remember correctly.
How come there are lots of dancing events there?
There were 3 in mine; Homecoming, Winter Formal, Prom. No one ever goes to Winter Formal, though d:
What is that prom thing actually? Why people are so desperate to find a date to prom? Is it really embarassing to go alone?
A formal dance. Since it's the last dance for upper classmen, I think that they are desperate to make it a good memory. I can't speak for other people, whether it's embarrassing or not. I went to some of my Homecoming dances alone, and I had a blast. You don't have to worry about minding your date.
Is physical punishment still used there? Because in my place there's no detention thing. If you make a mistake the teacher smack or kick you right away.
Not in my HS, and I'm sure not in most public HS. Although I did hear that physical punishment is likely to happen in private schools. When I was in elementary school (I was in the Philippines), I got smacked all the time.
Is it true that students there can sue the school or teachers? If a teacher touch a girl student's hand accidentally or not the girl's really going to file a sexual harrasment lawsuit? And what's that first amandment thing that always somehow connected to school? In those tv shows the students always have problem with the school about 1st amandment and always end up in court.
I'm sure it's happened. People around here will sue if you glance at them the wrong way.
**Is the teacher in America really still young, beautiful & attractive? Does an affair between teachers and students always happen there?
**
Bwahahaha! I've had many fugly teachers. Affairs happen. There was one when I was in 8th grade.
What teacher assistant do actually? You get a special extra grade if you're a teacher assistant?
They assist. Passing out papers, collecting, putting crap away. I think some get extra credit. I was an art TA in HS, I helped set up galleries, framing, mixing paints, etc. And you can brag about it in your college app.
What is that science fair thing? Is it a mandatory thing for all students?
It was never mandatory for us. I was in Science Olympiads and we participated.
How american gals say about foreign students especially foreign asian students? Can a foreign student ask an american gal out? Or there's an unwritten rule from the jocks that you stay away from our gal or we will beat u up kind of thing.
🤣
No rules. Ask away.
**And last what's that cheerleader gals all about. Is the gals in cheerleaders team are really that special and must be treated real special? They really only date the guys from football team? **
Everyone is special 🙂 . Some are treated special because they are very attractive. I've known cheerleaders shoved to the side, because they were not as attractive. I knew some that didn't date any of the jocks. It all depends.
All in all, I liked my HS experience. It was great and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Once in a while, I wish I could go back to re-live it. I was also satisfied with my education, and graduated with honors. I wish college was just as easy.

My tl;dr post.
My answers are based on my high school. So it's biased.
Is it really that interesting like it shown on tv?
On a scale of 1-10, interesting being a 10, I'd say it's a 4 or 5. It's more of a bore. But some days can be interesting.
Is it true that the students are divided into groups like nerds, preps or jocks thing?
Yes they are. You can tell right away by the way they dress and how they associate with people. Some people are mixed cases though.
Is there really a cool popular thing system? You really not allowed to talk to cool popular kids unless you're popular too? How can you become a popular kid in US school?
You're allowed to talk to the cool kids, but it depends if they want to talk to YOU. It's more often that popular people talk to other popular people. Not all popular kids are stuck up, some are nice and genuinely want to talk to you. Explains why they're popular.
Is it true that in the cafeteria there's a designated seats area for groups?
There aren't any designated areas, it's more like they designated it themselves. Since groups go to a certain area for a while, other groups become aware that it's someone else's hangout area, and will naturally sit somewhere else. Unless something happens.
Are those mean girls who loves to make fun of people and order you around like their slave really exist in US school? ;p
They aren't bold about having slaves, but they exist. The mean (usually immature and are freshman) girls here usually just borrow supplies like pencils and erasers (and don't return them.) and, they copy homework or test answers.
Why you have to move and go to other class every time one class ends? You don't just stay in one class and different teachers come into class?
That's just the way our school systems work. It's a privilege for the students here to come to school, so it's also our privilege to make it to the classroom on time and etc.
What is that detention thing? Why the teachers lock the students in some kind of room?
If you've done something wrong, you'll get a detention. It's a punishment.
Are those kissing and smooching things always happen there? Students allowed to kiss in class too? Is it just a common thing there?
Yeah, that's how these kids show affection to their partners. And they can kiss in a classroom, heck, even in front of the teachers, but if class is already in session, smooching is a no-go!
Is there a manga or anime club there? What you do in there usually? Heard from some friend that lots of fun things in school's anime or manga club. In my highschool, no animeclub. In my friend's school, yes, anime club. They have meetings and plan trips to conventions and anime related stuff. Trips to libraries to read manga, and yeah. etc.
How the students there treat foreign students? Heard local students love to intimidate and pick up fight with foreign students for no reason. Is it really that bad?
That's not true. We don't pick on them. In fact, we have a bucketful too many of foreign students who only speak their language. They get along and yeah. No fights or anything. But there are racial slurs.
How come there are lots of dancing events there?
We love to dance.
What is that prom thing actually? Why people are so desperate to find a date to prom? Is it really embarassing to go alone?
It's a high school trend thing. Since school's gonna be over, why not? But being the penny-pincher that I am, it's too expensive for my taste. If I wanted to dance, have food, and talk to people, I think any other place that charges less than 200 dollars is fine in my book!
Is physical punishment still used there? Because in my place there's no detention thing. If you make a mistake the teacher smack or kick you right away.
No physical punishment, it's against the law. They'll go to jail.
Is it true that students there can sue the school or teachers? If a teacher touch a girl student's hand accidentally or not the girl's really going to file a sexual harrasment lawsuit? And what's that first amendment thing that always somehow connected to school? In those tv shows the students always have problem with the school about 1st amendment and always end up in court.
What? XD. Well, it's true that a girl can sue teachers for sexual harassment. But it has to be a true case of sexual harassment. The level of punishment for lecturers here are high. Even verbal abuse from teachers can get them fired and it's on their records and etc.
Is the teacher in America really still young, beautiful & attractive? Does an affair between teachers and students always happen there?
The reason why there have been so many younger teachers is because they get paid at a lower rate. Older veteran teachers tend to have a higher pay-per-hour, and the younger new teachers get paid the lowest amount possible. There are some attractive teachers, just like how there are random attractive people on the streets. They just happen to be teaching you. And affairs have never happened in my school. It's either the teacher is too old, married, ugly, or responsible. 🤣
What teacher assistant do actually? You get a special extra grade if you're a teacher assistant?
Brownie points. And you go the extra mile. That's all.
What is that science fair thing? Is it a mandatory thing for all students?
Not mandatory. Basically a fair about science. 😐
How american gals say about foreign students especially foreign asian students? Can a foreign student ask an american gal out? Or there's an unwritten rule from the jocks that you stay away from our gal or we will beat u up kind of thing.
ROFL. They don't say much about them. It's not as bad and scary as you note it to be. The only thing they think about is the fact that you're from another country and speak another language. And who says that the jock owns all the chicks in the school? XD Just like any relationship that initiates, we'll see how the other person responds. Depends.
*And last what's that cheerleader gals all about. Is the gals in cheerleaders team are really that special and must be treated real special? They really only date the guys from football team? *
They cheer on the football team, who represents our entire school. Morale supporters, and they do this in their own free time. Although in my school, being a cheerleader means being a preppy popular girl now, but yeah, bleh. They date each other because they see each other the most. But it depends.

Is it really that interesting like it shown on tv?
Nope. Not even close. It's not weird and twisted like Gossip Girl and Secret Life of an American Teenager but its a pretty memorable part of your life. Whether you were miserable or the most popular person in school.
Is it true that the students are divided into groups like nerds, preps or jocks thing?
Yep. It really depends on who you see/saw yourself as. I myself closely associated with the artsy kids, i.e. the art room kids, the drama, choir and orchestra kids, and especially the English nerds like me.
Is there really a cool popular thing system? You really not allowed to talk to cool popular kids unless you're popular too? How can you become a popular kid in US school?
Yes. Usually. At my school there was but it was kind of weird. Like the popular kids weren't simply football players and cheerleaders. Of course there was that group but they definitely weren't not as well known as Graham Stookey and his group. He was on Oprah for a YouTube video of him playing the guitar and singing a song he wrote and did not let anybody forget it. He played the guitar and sung and was the class clown who earned straight A's without lifting a pinkie. All the girls LOVED him (I disliked him slightly because we had gotten into a debate in philosophy class which led me to conclude that he would throw away the human race were he in control of its fate) and I remember there was this one time he was allowed to set up an impromptu concert on the second balcony above the main hall and seriously, you'd think he thought he was some kind of god. Everybody seemed only willing to sacrifice themselves for him. His best friend was the captain of the football team but he was sort of an odd fellow as well. He was extremely handsome, even more so than Graham, but he was very quiet and standoffish. He was infamous for making girls mad because he if he thought they were stupid he would be condescending and mean. I remember there was this period of time when he wouldn't shower or shave because he said a bar of soap was a yardstick of civilization's influence and he began to dress in alpaca fur sweaters, carrying books like "Friedrich Nietzsche: Essays and Other Important Texts" and "Into the Wild". The strange thing is everyone still loved him no matter what he did. Girls still tried to stalk him at his football games, but they also tried to stalk him at the Science Bowl. Why do I remember all this? Because I admit to having a crush on him too, but only after I saw him reading One Hundred Years of Solitude and I love that book so much that started asking him excitedly if he liked it and to my horror, he smiled sweetly and looked at the ground, muttering, "I honestly thought it was strange at first but I find that every time I stop reading, I can't get that strangeness out of my head..." sigh If only...
Is it true that in the cafeteria there's a designated seats area for groups?
Sort of. Students just stick to their groups. I usually ate with the kids in the art room. In some schools, you can go off campus for lunch once you hit a certain grade.
Are those mean girls who loves to make fun of people and order you around like their slave really exist in US school? ;p
Erm, there are always those unreasonable girls who think that it's perfectly normal to get whatever they want, but depending on the importance of popularity, nobody cares enough about them to be their "slave".
Why you have to move and go to other class every time one class ends? You don't just stay in one class and different teachers come into class?
Because everyone takes different classes and are at different levels.
What is that detention thing? Why the teachers lock the students in some kind of room?
If you do something "wrong", say you "accidently" chuck an eraser at another irate student, you can get detention for you wrongdoing, which consists of sitting in a room for an hour with other troublemaker students and have them do their schoolwork or sit silently. It's a bit... pointless as a punishment I think.
Are those kissing and smooching things always happen there? Students allowed to kiss in class too? Is it just a common thing there?
Depends on the teacher's level of tolerance and such. I saw couples give each other quick kisses before they had to find their seats and occasionally I've heard questionable noises coming the bathrooms. I once came up to my friend and her girlfriend and to my dismay I realized that her girlfriend was sucking and kissing her neck, and it was very difficult to ignore, you understand, when you are trying to ask about the homework for a certain class. I knew people who got caught having sex by a doorway... Really? Really? Is it that hard to wait until AFTER everybody has gone home? ugh.
Is there a manga or anime club there? What you do in there usually? Heard from some friend that lots of fun things in school's anime or manga club. Sometimes, depending on how many anime/manga nerds there were. When I got to high school there was one but it was disbanded because not enough people were in it.
How the students there treat foreign students? Heard local students love to intimidate and pick up fight with foreign students for no reason. Is it really that bad?
Not really. If it's a majority white location, then perhaps. My school was majority white but bullying, for whatever reason, was not an issue.
How come there are lots of dancing events there?
Dancing is a universal language everybody picks up on. Plus it's liberating.
What is that prom thing actually? Why people are so desperate to find a date to prom? Is it really embarassing to go alone?
It's the biggest dance. Basically the most money is spent on it. Usually the student counsel picks and rents out a venue (my prom was at hall/art gallery that is usually rented out for weddings) and goes crazy with decorations with a theme in mind. The theme for my prom was Arabian Nights. I stole a genie lamp as a souvenir. There was also a chocolate fountain, a DJ and a table of fancy pastries, and a giant chandelier that was made by one of those modern glass chandelier makers. Gowns for girls can costs hundreds of dollars, and they usually get their hair and make up done. Having a date... it matters I think because then you have someone to actually dance with, whether it be both to crazy songs or slow, romantic songs. I just went with my friends my senior year and it we would all smile at each other awkwardly when a romantic song came on. It's a nice thought, being in a beautiful gown dancing with your date who looks dashing in a tux. It's just a stereotype for young love I guess. It's one of those memories that everybody can start talking about. After Prom is also a big deal, because whether or not you're going to your school's after Prom or to someone's party, most people weren't going to sleep until seven the next morning. At my school most people went to the after prom held at my school and man, was it fun. They rented Blow up sumo suits, henna artists, and other blow up things, like there was this blow up thing where you stood on the platform and your friends stood on other platforms in a circle and there was a beach ball in the center that was attache to a rope like a wrecking balls and you had to knock everyone else off with the ball. Or there was this blow up thing where you were tied to a Giant rubber band and you ran through this little rubber course and by the end you would be flung all the way back by the band. Certain hallways had certain activities, like a snow maze, or the walls were plastered with seniors' baby photos.
Is physical punishment still used there? Because in my place there's no detention thing. If you make a mistake the teacher smack or kick you right away.
No. No way. A teacher can be easily fired or sued for using corporeal punishment or even verbal humiliation. The meanest teachers I had would raise their voices a little and say, "I don't usually yell but you need to stop talking when I'm talking! It's disrespectful!"
If a teacher even says something that can be interpreted as a come-on they be sued or at least be suspended from their job.
*Is the teacher in America really still young, beautiful & attractive? Does an affair between teachers and students always happen there? 😛 *
Depends on the school, though lately, the number of teachers in America is dropping because they are payed crap salaries for teaching a bunch of brats every single year. My school always had new teachers every year, young beautiful women and handsome men 🙂 My freshman and sophmore English teachers were young women who were really pretty. Not a day went by that I didn't hear a group of jocks saying sexual jokes about them. We also had a number of male teachers who had affairs with female students. Mr. Ponis and Mr. Wicoff have been in a Seventeen magazine article about students having affairs with teachers. They were considered the "hot" male teachers. My older sister had Mr. Ponis for some class and when she was flipping through my magazine she spit out the water she was drinking and seemed frozen in horror. Just recently I learned that my Sociology teacher who is fairly young-early to mid thirties I'd say-left his wife and newborn for a nineteen year old girl. I remember now that he was always quite flirtatious. Wow most of the teachers at the high school I went to were in their mid thirties or younger.
What teacher assistant do actually? You get a special extra grade if you're a teacher assistant?
Usually they were fresh out of college or still in so the student teachers weren't actually students of the high school they just were there to learn more about teaching. They are more like interns.
What is that science fair thing? Is it a mandatory thing for all students?
It's usually not mandatory, in my school you could get extra credit points for participating. Students can come up with a science experiment and the most ingenious one wins. I liked science but not enough to come up with something more creative than growing plants with different kinds of lightbulbs or a volcano so my participation ended sometime after 5th grade.
*How american gals say about foreign students especially foreign asian students? Can a foreign student ask an american gal out? Or there's an unwritten rule from the jocks that you stay away from our gal or we will beat u up kind of thing. 😀 *
Haha, no. The jocks don't control everybody, and if they get upset that a foreign student is interested in a girl in their crowd, or even any girl, the majority of students would probably be on the foreign student's side unless he's a creep and deserves it. Honestly, if that happened at my high school it would have been a big deal not because it forbidden but because a lot of other girls would be bummed out especially if he were attractive. We had a French foreign exchange student once and boy, the girls were on him like white on rice. And there was one time we had a Chinese student, and he was a bit shy but there were a lot of girls who were excited at the thought of having an Asian boyfriend, especially since he was pretty nice and fairly attractive. I myself was warm for the French student's form, but alas, he went back to France single. :/
*And last what's that cheerleader gals all about. Is the gals in cheerleaders team are really that special and must be treated real special? They really only date the guys from football team? Wonder if Manick ever date one... 😀 *
Ergh, sort of. Usually, they're popular, meaning they're above attractive and somewhat social, which are traits I think valued in the cheerleading sport. I've seen cheerleaders stick to dating jocks/football players, then I've seen others date the emo rocker guys who hang around the stair cases with their arms crossed and their faces coolly emotionless. If popularity is a big thing at someone's school, then they get special treatment, if they're not a big thing like at my school, they're not really treated special, it's just everyone knows the gossip about their lives.
I miss high school, now 🙁
Well, aside from what the others said about the school life here, one thing I'd like to add is that in my school, there were designated areas for groups. The popular people are close to the snack bar and the table where they get the misc items (spoon, ketchup, paper towels, etc). The 'okay' crowd gathers at the middle. Then the 'everyone else' group hang out at the far tables close to the doors and the teachers supervising the caf.
Incidentally, all the foreign people were sitting near the doors. I don't think there were bullying going on or some kind of wrong treatment but more like they were shy to sit next to the jocks/cheerleaders/clowns/etc.
Personally, I sit at the middle most of the time, but sometimes, when I feel like studying, I sit with the foreign guys because they don't bother me.
Edit: And we did have teacher assistants who were highschool students, they were given extra credits or something. I think it was just some decoration on your transcript.
