I've noticed that quite frequently bystanders in the midst of a supernatural fight scream or act amazed and go "what is this cg?!".

I know what they mean by CG(the computer genenrated special effects in movies), but I don't think it makes sense.

If you were watching a movie and something amazing happened, you'd think they did it with cg(like neo flying around in the matrix or something). However, if you saw the same thing in real life I don't think you'd think the same thing.

Certainly, using special effects (like wires or something) to make someone fly is possible, but special effects and cg aren't interchangable in every situation. Especially concerning events that take place irl.

well you wouldn't think go "woooow look someone's flying". you would think it is a trick, no?

and it is my first time hearing CG. never seen it in manga either.

and maybe they use it for the general name of special effects? O_O

I sort of take it as poking fun at itself, no different than someone saying "Geez, what is this, a shoujo manga?" within the manga in reference to some cliche shoujo situation.
