so, something like baccano or haruhi or rental magica (which wasn't that good), where the story is out of order.

Unh... To some extent, Shoujo Kakumei Utena's anime could be considered like that. Kokoro Toshokan's anime has a little of it as well, but I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for... Sorry, I can't remember of any other else 🤢

I haven't watched the anime, but the manga is a masterpiece patchwork of flashbacks, with revelations about "what really happened" up to the last page.
