You could have done those things yourself.

(The second one goes under alt titles not as the main one.)

I didn't realize about the publication, but I realize now you're right. I'll remember that.

But "Sailor Fuku Knight" is the correct, main title, not an alt.

You can see - a little tiny on the cover image but not impossible to read - the "kishi" kanji have furigana (yellow text on black bg) kind of "on top" of them. Being pedantic, the title is intended to be read "Se-ra- Fuku Naito" (aka "Sailor Fuku Knight").

I found the volume online, so if you'd like I can show it to you very clearly on any number of full-res pages, or else you might like to find it yourself.

Edit:

Same thing here, new series since previous post (apparently I was overridden). Should be "Knight", not "Kishi". It's a good deal harder to see but there's a blue heart that I'm ready to swear has the furigana 'naito' in it.

Also, random question: is it policy to use the cover image from the last/latest volume?

No, the main title should be left as it is. The actual/correct title is Sailor Fuku Kishi but it can be read as Sailor Fuku Knight. The same goes for the other title.

Hello. I don't know if this is a bug or not, sorry if it's not :

If I see other people's list, the manga in my custom-made lists doesn't show up as their corresponding icon (reading, wish). Instead it's just blank. But if I search for a manga in the manga search function, the icons will appear. Thank you.

Okay, then could someone point me to rules/guidelines for how to derive the main title...if there is such a thing (I don't say I've looked exhaustively, but I'm at a loss as to where they might be). If not, could someone attempt to spell it out? I'm a little bit confused.

Okay, then could someone point me to rules/guidelines for how to derive the main title...if there is such a thing (I don't say I've looked exhaustively, but I'm at a loss as to where they might be). If not, could someone attempt to spell it out? I'm a little bit confused. To my knowledge, the rules about main titles aren't spelled out in detail anywhere, we have more like a working set of rules instead. Here's my understanding of it (Japanese series only):
For the main title, take the official name (so for this case it's セーラー服騎士), and convert it to romaji. The prevailing romanization system used around here is um... well, I'm not sure of the name, but I think it's Hepburn (but I could be mistaken). Anyway, the romanization system is widely adhered to on MU (for series main titles anyway--author names, magazines, etc. are another story), so just use other titles as a guide. And then words in katakana that are non-Japanese are written as the word they represent (so セーラー would be "sailor" instead of "seeraa")--for the main title, anyway. Alternate romanizations can be entered as associated names.
As for complicated situations like this one, where the furigana for part of the title is the katakana for a synonym rather than the normal hiragana (knight (naito) instead of kishi for 騎士)... well, I thought that both ways ("Sailor Fuku Kishi" and "Sailor Fuku Knight") were okay as the main title, but what I've been doing is treating the furigana as secondary. My reasoning is that the most official title is セーラー服騎士, so I think the main romanized title should just be a direct romanization of that. So the little ナイト is part of an alternate name--and so I put セーラー服ナイト in the associated names field. But I can see where the confusion arises.

Edit: One other thing--weird stuff. Sometimes mangaka write foreign words that should be in katakana in hiragana instead. (So for "panic," they write ぱにっく instead of パニック). If there's a convention, I'm not well aware of it, but I've always written it as "panikku" for the main title, just because it's from hiragana. As for crazy stuff like puns and titles where they take two English words and smoosh their katakana equivalents together because it's fun in Japanese, but where sometimes the English spellings are different so that it's impossible to write them as the English words they represent, well... I deal with those on an individual basis. Just use your best judgment and pick the least ridiculous, most practical thing.

Ok, thanks for the explanation, lynira. I prefer "how it's spoken" (big surprise, right? =P ), but I'll work with that from now on.

Thanks.

to tericloth: You're welcome. I'm glad I could clear things up.
Also that last title's been fixed, thanks.

Edit: Oops, I forgot to answer the second question.

Quote from tericloth

Also, random question: is it policy to use the cover image from the last/latest volume? The policy about series images is that it cannot be watermarked, it should be either of the original language series or of the English version, it must not be explicit, and it must not spoil the series. It's also best if you can find the cover of a volume, rather than another illustration, but if it's a oneshot or if the series is only in magazines and hasn't had a real volume published yet, just do the best you can.
Which number volume to use is up to the preference of the one who uploads the image, as far as I know. I strongly prefer the image to be the first volume's cover, but some people like it to be the latest cover, and others want to see the best-looking cover. I did a poll on it once, and each seems to have a pretty strong following. Anyway it's "the driver has the right to pick the music" policy.
Oh, also, unless a series image is wrong (it breaks the rules mentioned in the first paragraph above), please don't replace a series image with a lower quality one (smaller size or lower resolution)--if you want to change the image to a different volume cover or something, replace it with an image of equal or better quality.

I can't speak as to the other icons, but series I have in a custom list designated with the "complete" icon are now showing up with the "reading" icon when looking at other people's lists. They show up as complete everywhere else.

I think Taiyou no Ichiwaru's main title should be Taiyou no Ijiwaru. The kana on the volume cover clearly reads ijiwaru, so ichiwaru is a mistaken reading.

Thanks.

Gokuatsu - "Beyond the Heavens" is not a sequel, but a revised edition of Souten Kouro (for reference: http://morningmanga.com/news/103), hence the entries can be merged.
