Alright, ever since

Acnologia was revealed to be a dragon slayer turned actual dragon I've had this feeling at the back of my mind. And now I want to pick all of your brains to see if I might've hit the nail on the head.

I think that Zeref is a dragon turned human and the very dragon that taught Acnologia Dragon Slayer magic. I'm thinking he turned more human for every dragon Acnologia killed or he killed so many humans he turned into one like Zeref did dragons. The first being most likely judging by Zeref's dialogue during the Tenrou Island arc.

Any thoughts?

Well, considering this is Hiro Mashima, I think that is a very possible theory.

The way he uses magic in his series' doesn't deviate much from one to the other. Rave had a few dragonpeople who when they went all monster would sometimes get stuck that way and become mindless animals. It's a bit lazy on his part, but he makes it entertaining all the same.

so zeref is a human slayer.......... that might actually be cool if it proves to be true but I still don't get why is he so interested in Natsu?

If Igneel is some sort of

king of dragons, then doesn't it explain why people/dragons would be interested in Natsu. Or maybe it's the other way around, maybe Igneel looked after him because there's something special about Natsu.

With the new time travel plot, Natsu is probably getting sent into the past where he meets Zeref. Then stuff happens and Zeref waits for Natsu to be able to defeat him for hundreds of years? My theory.

I like all those stuff being said about

zeref possibly being a dragon-turned-human since acnologia is a human-turned-dragon, so acnologia would've been zeref's first pupil

and

the notion of Natsu being central to the plot (which has loads of emphasis on the Dragons) because Igneel is King of Dragons - I foresee a Dragon Arc coming up; it's been foreshadowed since forever

that said, though, then how shall we explain

god slayers?

Maybe god slayers were created to destroy dragon slayers or Acnologia/Zeref. 😕

I wouldn't put it past the council, the king's men or some other secret organisation to do this. They might even have had them to deal with any threats.

It's an interesting and sound theory, but you also have to remember the civil war that the dragons had. And the fact that Acnologia was out to subdue all, not just one side or one species.

Thanks for all the feedback, and as for why Natsu's so important to Zeref... ever since the Laxus arc when

neither Natsu nor Gajeel could get out of the age rune spell meant to keep the old man contained, I've gessed that dragon slayers actually taught by dragons are MUCH older than they appear. Therefore I've developed another fun theory about dragon taught dragon slayers ! They are either survivors of the dragon/human war, or while being taught magic by their dragons time stopped for them then restarted when the dragons all vanished What do you guys think of that one? 😀

That was explained by the spirit dragon.

It was a miscalculation made by the pro-human dragons who taught humans dragon slayer magic. Acnologia betrayed the pro-human dragons
