I went to look at the Yu Yu hakusho Wikipedia today and noticed that sometime within the last few months (as I was on it last November) somebody seems to have gone on and butchered the crap out of it. There was a ton more detail on a lot of the characters that apparently someone saw fit to cut. This bothers me, mainly because someone cut a lot of what I consider important information.

so anyway I started looking around and it seems like a lot of Wikipedia anime/manga pages seem like people are trying to keep spoilers out of them by editing out this important information and only leaving a vague outline of the character and series. Which kind of defeats the purpose of Wikipedia being a place to get information.

I remember this because I liked how the descriptions of Jin, Touya, Rinku, Chu, Suzuki, Shishiwakamaru (I have no idea how to spell that) originally included the parts about how they unanamously choose to side with Yusuke should a war break out in Makai, which has been cut down to only mention the fact that they reappear in Makai saga.

Anyone else feel this is wrong or shouldn't be done? Because I've also noticed a lot of newer but not as popular series having entries that are very short and vague, and when I try to change them someone jumps on and quickly changes them back.

Edit: I'm looking through it now and I also am seeing things I know to be inaccurate, and things I don't know, but having watched and read everything in both languages don't remember being mentioned. (an Example being "Bui is a demon warrior", which I don't remember them mentioning, and I don't think is something that could just be assumed as he seems more like a human and I doubt him being on Toguro's team makes a difference when you consider what they themselves are), I also noticed he is one of very few demons (if so) that looks 100% human without having some other form.

Yeah, it's annoying when I can't find something I know was there before.

i HATE when wikipedia lures me in then BAM dumbledore dies in chapter x after hmm hmm

for entertainment there should only be a very brief explenation of the plot

who cares to read the story if you allready know whats going to happen

Then don't go to wikipedia...wiki was made for spoilers, I go there all the time for spoilers. If I wanted just need to know info, I'd go to official sites or sites like animenewsnetwork.

Yup. Wiki should have as much info as possible, as it is supposed to be an encyclopedia.
Spoilers are to be expected. There are other places to go to when looking for synopses of manga/anime (such as this site). Long live Wiki.

Yep. Agreed.

Everyone should know wikipedia = up to date detailed information, and that up to date information is gonna include spoilers.

Wikipedia =/= Vague outlines. We want information!

Yeah, I remember I really wanted to know what happened in the last few volumes of Fruits Basket since they weren't out from Tokyopop at the time yet, and thank God for Wikipedia that I could find out what finally happened before I went insane waiting. (This was also before I knew what scanlations were and to look for them, in this case.) =)

maybe it's just me but why can't we have a spoilers section and a section for vague outlines?

Pretty much what everyone else said. Don't go to Wikipedia for information on anime and manga, or basically anything.

The reason I even wiki up a certain series is for spoilers. It annoys me as well when someone butchers it. 🙁

If you don't want spoilers, don't wiki it~ Like Blak suggested, just head to animenewsnetwork. Not only is that site resourceful, but more accurate as well.

However, what's great now is that some popular series have their own wikia page. (ie. Fairy Tail, D.Gray-Man)
