I'm surprised that no thread (other than a I'm looking for...) has been made as of yet, now that we actually have a yaoi/yuri subforum. My thanks to whoever made it possible. ^_^

Anyways, vote/discuss the first thing you want to find in a yaoi. Maybe the results will prove once and for all that us yaoi-lovers don't only look for some hot buttsexing action, as we call it.

For the record I voted for originality, since some of the best yaois I've read don't actually have what others may call beautiful artwork. And well it's hard to find some original titles nowadays.

I just want a good story in my yaoi. It doesn't have to have a plot, but as long as it entertains me. Uh, that doesn't make much sense does it?

If it's a comedy, it'd better make me laugh. If it's more of a tragedy, it'd better make me more sad. That makes more sense.

I really go through moods. Sometimes I want to see hardcore sex. Sometimes I want to see a budding romance.

However, the thing that remains the same is that I want to see character development. I generally dislike yaoi oneshots now because there's not enough character development. I can deal without plot as long as there is something to hold the story together, and that has to be the characters, even if it's just a few slice of life stories. Anymore, I want to read stories that are at least a full volume about the same characters.

Beautiful art helps, but if the characters and story can hold it together, then I'll let the art slide. But I have to like the characters or I won't enjoy it.

Something interesting.
Good art is a must 80% of the time.
Less cliches...
Sex is good, but smut yaoi is like hentai if you want any.

Yep, it makes sense. I think the same.
Not everything has to be ultra-serious to be interesting.

I'm looking for something with a decent plot, and originality isn't bad either. after reading oh so many stories with the usual clichés i can't differ from another I know that is kinda alot to ask but...

Anyways, good art = must too.

Great art. Sometimes I will look for the crappy art or the art that looks different like sketchy ish.

Good Plot

Good Characters and development.

And I love it when the uke is not let me repeat not girly. I'll read shota if I want small helpless ukes. 😐

I voted for originality. 😀

Good art. Not beautiful art though.

But I couldn't give a shit less if there was actual sex, or a plot, or anything, if the art is good, that is all that matters to me. Seems shallow, but I actually have high expectations.

I actually voted for originality though.

I chose plot. If the summary seems decent, I'll read it. Everything else is just icing.

Other. Its a tie between artwork, and story. The art needs to be able to make me all "school girlish" (as I describe it). It has to be extremely cute, or extremely sexy for me to initially get into a series. Story is just as important, for it keeps me interested in the manga long term.

I think I try to look for less of the typical and more for the unusual story lines that work with really nice art....nothing way out there....just simple and nice....

Other:
when the uke/seme is preference, not label
meaning i dont like it when one is the obvious girly emotional weak uke
same for shoujos actually, i hate the weak girls/ukes
we need more evenly masculine homo pairings o.o
