I too would recommend canned tuna, you can do wonders with canned tuna, cabbage, carrots and some olive oil and seasoned vinegar of choice. Some chilli and mustard in it will do wonders as well... Oh, did i mention it's extremely healthy to eat? Drinks tons of water as well, keeps the hunger down and it is cheap, unless yer a fool who only buys the bottled spring (scam) water, or.. gasp carbonated...

Lentils as well as beans works well too. (beans will fill you up easily)

Do you know what people did in the old days when they had secrets they didn't want to share?

They'd climb a mountain, find a tree, carve a hole in it, whisper the secret into the hole and cover it up with mud. That way, nobody else would ever learn the secret...

Canned sardines in tomato sauce cooked with egg is also really good and really cheap or free if you've got any...usually the sardines are already canned with tomato sauce...at least here anyway...

Since I eat rice almost daily. I don't have a problem with just eating rice only if I have no money. I would just buy 8kg bag of rice which is around $10. I can honestly eat plain rice with just salt and pepper or soy sauce and minced chillies. I will get terribly sick of it but I won't waste much money. A box of noodles almost costs the same as a 8kg bag of rice but it won't last me as long as a bag of rice. The only problem is you need a rice cooker.

I do that a lot, rice with soy sauce, lime and chili...it's pretty good and saves a lot

well you can't eat anything if you haven't got any money...so best thing is to ravage your moms fridge : )

tuna cans, vienna sausages, and eggs are my meal when i'm low on money...but if i have no money at all i loan it (but not from good friends, that thing can ruin a friendship)...unfortunately i can't ravage family fridge coz i have no relatives where i live.

Standard cheap foods: potatoes, rice, beans/lentils, eggs (depending on where you live, I guess...), carrots, noodles, oatmeal, & check the dairy case for stuff that's about to expire (it'll still be good for a few days...).

If you really have no money, I doubt that you would be on the internet. But here's some suggestions:

If you live near a beach, try digging for some clams.
Some big supermarkets offer free food samples to their shoppers sometimes. See if there's one near you. If not, you can always go anyway and try to eat some grapes/apples/etc without anyone noticing.
If you're in college or university, see if there's any clubs having an event. They might provide free food.
You can try asking your friends for money.
If you're desperate, you can wait until a restaurant's closing time and asking if you can have their leftovers... Some stuff has to be thrown out everyday because they don't stay fresh.
If you're really desparate, try the trash.

when i'm hungry, and don't have food, i just eat whatever's in the house(which is usually rice, or something frozen)
