Death Note

The February issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine revealed on Saturday that Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's Death Note manga is getting a special one-shot in the magazine's March issue on February 4. The manga will have 87 pages including a center color page, and will be featured on the cover of the March issue. The February issue teased that the chapter will center on Ryuk's Death Note being brought again to the human world, after the end of the main manga.

For reference, Viz/MangaPlus have graciously published this oneshot for free.

It'll probably only be up for free for 3 weeks, so for anyone excited about it, read it asap! It's pretty fucking good.

Yeah, that was rather good. Although, I wonder if this really is just another "one-off" or a way to drum up hype for a new upcoming Death Note series (Given the new rule, and plot point of everything going digital).

This was written months ago and released in a super-limited capacity to a very specific audience (and now finally published for the public by Shueisha) so I don't really see it becoming a sequel series.

It´s the 2nd such epilogue. The first released alongside the L movie in 2008. This one came out at random and moved to Jump SQ in printed form. There was a Japanese film + a web show, the Netflix one, a tv drama, a musical and so on last decade. So the brand periodically goes on but the canon is muddled beyond comprehension. Shrug.

It would be neat if the brand tried to move out of the YA field for real as the full story potential isn´t being used but this was fun enough. It didn´t make that much sense though but neither did the original 😛.

Reading through the post chapter now after rereading the series, I can see what you guys were saying in regards to there being no plans for a continuation. Because of the way the story is setup, the only possible "follow-up" would be to have the next Kira kill politicians, company executives, religious leaders, and celebrities. Anything otherwise would just be a repeat of everything already done.

Also, bravo to A-Kira for destroying the Japanese economy.
