Worthless hero / savior

Hey, im looking for a (comedic) manga with a protagonist who for some reason is the designated hero to a group of people. He is their savior and last hope.
Except, said hero turns out to be useless, cowardly and really kind of sucks.
I would love for there to be a scene like: how did we end up with this useless guy?
It would be terrific if there is someone there (preferrably female) that sees through him and ribs on him with delicious deadpan sarcasm. Not purely meanspirited, also maybe to edge him on. It would be even better if she suddenlly starts to like the new and improved protagonist.
Its cool if he does level up at some point, but i want him to remain somewhat of an idiot throughout the storyline.
Thanks in advance. 🙂

4 Cut Hero has a hero that's actually fairly powerful but turns into an otaku NEET after he beats the demon lord (which is where the manga starts).
Sekai Maou has a completely powerless hero who doubts he's even the hero.
Hero Union BBS is a collection of funny hero stories, some are competent and others... not so much.
I haven't read it in a long while, but the beginning of I Don't Want This Kind of Hero has the main character, who's very powerful, only really in the hero-ing for the money. Also, lots of incompetence on the part of his coworkers.
To a lesser extent, Hero Waltz also has a physically/magically powerful protagonist who refuses to have anything to do with hero-ing.
Oh, and of course, there's Senyuu. where everyone is incompetent in one way or another.
