I think every release should require a chapter number. When someone submits a group's release of a volume of manga, just by submitting a volume number, it does not alert the user though the reading list. This is extremely inconvenient because with some series for, the longest time, I didn't know there were any new releases. Take Dorohedoro for example, I didn't know v.15 was released I randomly check the page like 30 days after its release. A user would be alerted of the release if it required a chapter number because it would show up on the reading list. Unlike a release with just a volume number which does not show up on the reading list.

There are series that just doesn't have chapter numbers. There are also series that restarts chapter numbers at 1 for start of ever volume. Both cases are still an exception even if you request chapter number to be added.

I suggest you that you put your reading list in By Latest Release order. That way, your new chapters will come up at the top regardless of unread chapter signs.
