Review section is bad...

Have you guys seen the reviews section lately?
The layout isn't all that good and it has waaay too many pages (38 atm). It makes it hard to read and cruise the section.
One could argue that you could always search the for review but you don't need the review section for that.
Normally, you view the serie info first and then the review. Since the review link for that serie is already in the info...
I feel that the review section is the least optimized part of this website, and it really shouldn't be that way since reviews are an important part of learning about a particular manga.
Anyway, I just wanted to bitch a little in general. I don't really have an idea on how to do a major overhaul on that section, just wanted to inform you of the problem that the layout is not perfect.
Actually, i think i have an idea that can at least help a little:
Some of the series have multiple reviews. Why not put all the review authors name below the manga name instead of having multiple threads?
And to read each authors review you simple click their name or something. That should shrink the size of the list down a little and help with the layout. Also, instead of taking the first sentences and put it on the front, why not use the first couple of sentences from "overall"? It gives a better summary.

It's a huge database. Of course there are going to be several pages in the directory.

Manick is already doing something about it. Remember the "Was this review helpful to you? Y/N" that was only added recently? That should help to organize it when he has enough data.

Stfu please.
As you most certainly are aware of, the review database is not huge enough to justify 38 pages.
And even so, it's not easy to navigate and see useful information on each review. Also outdated since the rating on the front has a maximum of 5 while the rest of this site has 10. Consistency...

Actually, that was for comments in the manga info pages.
You can already rate reviews anyway, so a Y/N option for reviews won't really help.

Had you cited the later part of your statement in the OP, which you didn't, I would have agreed with you. However, the directory of reviews is compiled of every series that has a review, done in alphabetic order. That is why there are 38 pages of reviews. The only way to reduce the number of pages is to reduce the number of series.
The only way I can think of is to make reviews searchable by author and genre.
And until you have a suggestion of your own, you shouldn't tell people to shut up.

Exactly.
jezzz, whats with all the rude people here lately?
Anyways, i don't support this idea, out of sheer annoyance.
Edit -
Btw, its not all cause of that, i don't really like the idea, with itself, since i don't really use anything like that, so i guess my vote doesn't count, for this one.

I was under the impression that I brought up a relevant issue, yet you (ahoaho) insult me with the very lame and tiresome cheese joke. So i can tell you to stfu whenever i want.
Me telling people to shut up and having a suggestion on my own has no logical connection whatsoever. I didn't exactly tell you to shut up because you had a good suggestion now did i?
Your "And until you have a suggestion of your own, you shouldn't tell people to shut up" sounds good and might trick a couple of idiots (thezombieking) but to someone who's used to debate and argue that sentence has no logic at all in this situation.
Edit: And for the record, i gave a small suggestion in post #4
I've never even looked at the reviews section until this post. Anyway, all the negativity and bitching aside, I can kind of see what you're saying. I don't really think the number of pages is a big issue since you can navigate by the alphabet up top to find what you're after and I don't have any problem with the general layout.
I do agree the ratings system should be consistent with the rest of the site and listing multiple reviews of the same series under one header could help clean it up a bit. It's not that all that critical to me though since I never use the feature anyway.

This is the Site Bugs and Suggestions section of the forum. As you gave no suggestion until I called you on it, I was not out of bounds with my assessment of the validity of your complaint.
Also, you are asking the administrators of this website to do a major overhaul of a large section of the site. At least be more courteous to them.
And personally, I found that joke rather funny.

yea, i don't feel to strongly about the rating feature either...it should be changed to a better system, but there is a whole other thread on that, i belive.

You can't blame people for being offensive. You did kind of instigate the whole thing with the Cheese and Whine.
The Review section is, personal. It is rated by individual. Often for a popular manga, you will see 3 or four views, some with very different ratings. I seen one manga that got a 5.0 in onere view and a 3.4 in another. This deviativion further shows that reviews can't be taken too seriously except for their summary. In essence, reviews are used for in depth summary and perhaps the indepth ratings, if you trust the writer.

Hehe, I think all ratings are rated by individuals on this website and thus personal 🙂
Of course, the interesting is not the rating but the review itself...

Why is it bothering you so much?
Although there was a section here that showed the latetest reviews...
I wonder what happened to it...
That suggestion about gathering them in one thread is nice. Can be quite usefull.

I know the review section sucks. Honestly, it never really took off, and I think that most people put their reviews in the comments more than anything else.
As much as I appreciate your concern, and as much as the reviews section sucks, I just don't have time at the moment to do anything with it. Unless you guys can come up with a team of coders that can help me with the site... I'm pretty much stalled on everything.
