why is it that when trying to read skip beat on batoto, there is some random huge overlay of some crap inventor site covering half the f'ing page. Not to mention the page itself isnt the highest quality scan.... so can someone tell me what that stupid page that has nothing to do with manga is doing ruining half of the pages?(around chap 80 btw)

srsly tho, ive seen some REALLY annoying watermark placement. While that is pretentious enough half the time, at least they have some semblance of a reason for causing some slight distractions on the page. This reason mainly being that they did work on it... but placing bolded not even semi transparent writing over everything and blocking out half of your own low quality page with a site that isnt even related to a scanning group is just f'ing retarded, is it not?

(btw in case people complain about skip beat being licensed, i am currently finding a purchasing all the skip beat volumes in english when i can find them. i just prefer online reading for the most part, and havent found this particular volume yet.)

I realise this probably isn't the point of your post, but there's another release of Skip Beat chapter 80 from Enchantment Scans that doesn't have all that.

Also probably not the point, but I had the same trouble getting several of the volumes (6, 12, 14, and 17, if I remember rightly). I ended paying over $30 for a couple of them after looking around for ages - but now it looks like Viz is re-releasing the series in their 3 in 1 sets, so maybe it'll get easier to find.

that is convenient 😀 . and actually i think it was 85 or 86 and a few other chapters around chapter 80 not sure if it was specifically chapter 80 itself. srsly makes me want to go read it on a different site tho since there were no other options on batoto ;-;.

ty for the warning on the 3 in 1 books. ill definitely have to keep an eye out for those, it would make completing the collection much faster ^-^

I have donated to scanalation sites in the past... not going to donate to a scanner that does such a p*$# poor job, and advertises some stupid inventor site at the cost of the original drawings being completely destroyed. if you're going to do such a crappy job its better not to f'ing do it. so therefore sir, if you want it sucked do it yourself.

the 3-1s are awesome as im getting the volume new for 10 bucks.... rather insane when its 3 volumes that i used to find for 15-30 by themselves xD. i am quite approving of manga atm.

I really am just guessing, of course, but I think for the manga that different scanlators fight/ish over, it seems like sometimes a few guys go for soonest releasing wins, rather than quality, so they take the earliest raws they find. Even if they look like this...

I know I've seen something like this type of raw in some forum for Skip Beat recently, though I can't remember which chapters/where, so I can't go and look if they have 'billwang.net' on them or something else. So still guessing.

Also, not all the releases listed as coming from 'Skip Beat Scans' on Batoto have a watermark, or even look completely alike, really.

yeah there were just too many that were so horrible it interrupted the story... which isodd cuz i read through this point like half a year ago on other sites and the quality was way better and not covered in annoying adverts :/.

The three in ones are a really good idea, hopefully they'll start with other manga that isn't already released too. Like Tokyo Crazy Paradise, maybe.

not really doing a favor... other people provided scans and translations while NOT removing half the art. i have no qualms about water marking rly, its a bit annoying but i accept it for the reason you mentioned above. bolded non transparent text so big that just 1/5th of one of the chinese symbols took off the entire head of one of the charcters is fricken ridiculous.

claiming ownership and hoping to get donations. fine. even making clauses about who can use it, fine. being low quality and still doing that. your choice to watermark claim crappy work which may damage your reputation, but w/e fine. making a crappy scan and having gigantic non transparent text block out the content. f off and do something else cuz other people will soon do it far better and we dont need that crap they are shelling out polluting the sites.

total agreement i would buy that series in a heart beat. Both because of how amazing it is, and because through it i found the great manga the topic is about 😛

the type of stuff i appreciate are the people who scanned the second half of kyou kara ore wa!!. they scanned a chapter every other f'ing day for the most part(sometimes consecutive days), with no errors i remember, no giganto blocking text, and a good appearance. I dont even remember them putting watermarks up. To that group i am totally willing to give the respect and thanks you are talking about. Not to some annoyances that did it horribly badly and slammed their stupid pandering for attention over the the stuff i was trying to f'ing read.

Even if he does 'suck it' and donate, what guarantee is there that the quality will improve? When you scanlate a series, poorly or not, you discourage others, who might do a better job, from translating it, so it is not a 100%-good effort.
