Yeah, I mean, to be kicked out that badly.
She has made only one appearance since volume 6, and now that we know the series will end in vol. 34 (too bad >_< ), it's very likely that we won't see her again (or maybe in the same way than Momo sensei in chapter 96 - that is, not very useful).

I'm not saying that she should have remained a main character (by the way Maho got my vote since the beginning). But, well, to see her once in a while, just in order to know what she's doing.

In my opinion, Izumi was here only to start the manga in a proper shonen way (you know, the weirdo that got to be friends with the school beauty, and all) and to make a quick end possible if the manga were to be interrupted (like, end of volume 5 or 6 : "sorry Izumi-chan, but I'm fond of Maho for now >_<)
Still, she could be dead we would not really see the difference.
