So, a question that's been bothering me, and quite possibly everyone that has watched this show, where exactly does a Shinigami go when they 'die?' Aren't they already dead? I think they might have explained this in the earlier episodes, but regardless. Anyone know the answer?

from what I've read from other forums:

they become the spirit particles that "feed" Soul Society and it's surroundings

...

hope this helps! 😀

A shinigami doesn't actually "die". What happens is that they get reincarnated as an entirely new person on Earth, but they have absolutely no memories of their previous life (As a shinigami or when they were alive in a previous life).

And if I'm not mistaken, this applies to every soul in Soul Society, not just the shinigami.

Just because someone's head was chopped off doesn't mean they're dead. That's just silly.
