It's useful because sometimes groups scan missing chapters or add higher quality scans.

One Outs for example has Easy Going scanning the missing chapters at the middle of the story. And if you add One Outs to your reading list, it will only show (Ch. 168) in red. Even though the latest scanned chapter is Ch. 44. Not to mention there are the bonus chapters 168.1-168.7 that are not shown.

Never mind, I just noticed the icon besides the manga I'm reading on Releases.
