I think I would like VIII... but I can't find it anywhere.

So I'd have to say XII. Or VII.

I kind of like Dirge Of Cerberus's shooter style, but the camera angels were ridiculous.

My favorite is VIII, second one VII and thir is X

Offcourse VII has sepiroth and lot of cools stuff, but the story and overhall look of VIII made me play it over and over and over again.

Squall, Rinoa and Seifer are memorable characters

Boo. There's no FF Tactics!

In any case, I liked FFXII for the new gameplay and FFX for the emotional storyline... Though my vote would still go to FF Tactics =D. Can't say much about FFVII coz I never managed to finish it coz it just got stuck somewhere in the PC version, and FFVIII's junction system just kinda made me wanna kill someone.

Totally IX. FF VIII felt like an angst bomb when I played it for the first time just a little ago, and the fact that when I tried to think of the story and plot, I couldn't think of anything. Sooo they like go around and come back and then go around again and they fight with PEEPS and do stuff and anyways! Plus the whole idea of these lazy teenagers being hardcore mercenary troopers just could not form in my head. The part where they all remember how they ALL were in the same orphanage, hrhrhr gives me chills, I remember how I just stared at the screen clicking buttons, waiting for some reason to appear from nowhere. AHH they all had taken LSD, that's why! FF VII I can't really give an opinion about, since I played it such a long time ago. I do remember Cloud being a silent guy though, unlike Mister Goth Squall with his thoughts. And the combat in VIII, all I ever did was use drawn magic on the attribute slots and spam GF all day long. I mean I spent half of the playing time watching the GF clips. Squall's limit break was fun though.

IX (not my first) was just BAM, screw the complicated combat systems that aid in no way and exist for no good reason except to confuse people, here's the fucken game, have fun in -not planning to play it-, but actually playing it.

I finished FFXII and FFX-2. FFXII was a bit bland, but was worth a play. FFX-2, I found quite nice, but only for a single play.

I stand by FFVII being the best so far. Though, I'm wondering how FFIX is.

8 & 11 are my favorites tbh

8 for the story

11 for the MMO

11 for great story, imo the best fighting system, it's hardest and longest FF and it's online.

FF8 is number one for me. Your first RPGs always leave an impression on you, I guess.

FF6 and FF9 are tied for second place. All other FFs are just hanging around somewhere in the rankings, below the Harvest Moons and the Breath of Fires.

8, probly because it was my first final fantasy game, and really moved me of how artistic and beautiful the setting was.... i thought 7 was abit too dark for me to get adapted to it... though it was abit more original....

most people liked 7 the most... only because it was the very first final fantasy, or more of any RPG games that took place in modern times, which took a mind of a pure genius to do... i believe people thought 8 was more inferior due to the fact that it was way too futuristic... i think maybe squaresoft thought they would give it a try to make it abit more futuristic considering the success of 7...

but still i thought 8 had the best setting, and 7 had better plot... but overall 8.... GUNBLADE FTW...

my second fav would probly be TACTICS... the gameboy advance one, with that moogle i think it was? and the bunny ear people and the reintruduction of that black faceless wizard?? i thought that had the best game play... i like strategic games

might have missunderstood this but, first FF ever or did u mean its the first of its kind as an RPG where u can change the view from which u play on world map etc?

myself i prefer FF7 as it had a great plot, and so did FF8 too.
only thing i didn't like about FF8 was the draw magic system (it was horrible)as i prefer using MP event though the magic in FF8 were used to applify stats, armor, weapons.
the major problems in FF games i played were that they were too easy to beat. (give the options to choose difficulty level ^^)

i said basically "very first RPG that took place in modern times", obviously ill be aware of the existence of final fantasy 1, 2, 3 ....

and yes, i didnt like the draw system either, though the GF was beautifully done, which tops all other ones... 8 just had a magical touch that really put my mind into a trance... but it lacked its character development, though they were all HOT...

I really wouldn't call FF VII modern. Its pretty heavily Sci-fi in my view (a darker sci-fi than is usual maybe, but there's too much advanced stuff in there to call it modern). Either way there were games as close to modern as it is (maybe even closer) before it.

It's setting isn't why the fans latch on to it. The only reason it's more popular than the vastly superior game preceding it, is that it is the first Final Fantasy, and one of the first RPGs to be in full 3D with CG cutscenes. That said, it is a far superior game in every way to Final Fantasy VIII...

I really liked FFVIII and FFIX, didn't like FFVII at all.

But FFX still holds a place for me, since it was the first PS2 game i ever owned.
