if u draw, what do u like drawing the most?
Well sure, I like drawing. I drew my avatar. I can't draw people to save my life though.
I'm more of a dragon artist. I do occasionally draw manga characters but it's rare. That and i'm taking A-Level art so I can't draw that stuff at all. It's all drawing observations and myself XD
But I do love drawing an occasional dragon now and then 😀

On the topic of manga-inspired art...
I am a little biased against it. Mainly because these wannabe mangakas completely ignore the fundementals and main principles of art; Anatomy, Composition, Light & Shade, etc.
Style should only become an option when you're at least able to draw a proper-looking human body. Its simpy not enough to be able to draw cute girls/boys with long hair, fashionable attire, or extremely long swords. This is especially the case for anyone who wants a career as an artist, you won't suvive a minute if you can't get the basics down.
On another note, I purchased an Aiptek Tablet today, for 50 Euro. Its my first tablet, so I'm hoping I might become a lot better with digital art as a result. Traditonal art will always be my main area, but I doubt I'll survive in the industry without a few digital skills...

Does that mean I'm sad? ;_;Actually the whole hate against drawing manga style kinda ticks me off. You think anyone painted much different in Leonardo's time? Everyone around him tried to like he could. My problem is when people don't draw manga style they copy manga style. Manga/anime type drawing has many variations, you can still be unique while keeping the fundamentals the same. As long as the way you draw isn't generic I think your fine.
The reason it is looked down upon to draw just manga is because its easy to copy, easy to learn, and can be adapted from any how-to book. Most people who draw in an manga style have only trained themselves by drawing doodles in calculus and pasted it on deviantart. Its disrespectful for so much recognition to be placed on pieces that don't give a second thought to a subject. But its especially disrespectful for the people who have been adapting their skills since they were 6 years old and younger. Soon enough, classical and traditional art and photography will be completely disregarded for cartoons and american knock-off "manga." 😔
I'm not saying all manga style art is bad, its just that most is generic. In fact, some is very very good, but they are simply exceptions.
Ah, quite true. It is quite easy to learn 🤣 but to be unique is a whole different topic. Finding your own style takes a while...

I wouldn't really call it drawing... usually i just scribble some gibberish when i space out in a class. sometimes it makes something, sometimes it doesn't.
Common sense just isn't that common
I draw faces and always start with the eyes..In fact, if I draw something small, its more or less the eyes..I am fascinated by human figures 😀

But you're a pretty regular manga reader. Is that a sign of being snobbish and not considering manga and anime "art" because they are like cartoons? 😐 Or maybe manga is too "cutesy" for you? 😉 😀 🤣
I'm not setting out for an argument, so I find it a fair question to ask.

I don't[] think you understand the times we're living in at all. Sure, a 10 minute doodle isn't art but some of us find manga as an exellent and modern way to express ourselves, and for your information its dissult to commit anatomy to memmory, a skill you need to hone in order to create manga characters.Sure, some of the generic eye shapes that are used in fan-service mangas like love hina are giving manga a bad name but if you really care to look you will find that some mangas are deeply insightful and tell a story. We've come a long way since Leonardo's time , young people back then were resticted by strict social bounderiesand art had rules and limited creative expression, now people use a combination of classical and modern techniques to create art, they're not limited to religious painting and portraits which take an enormous amount of time."Classical" art hasn't dissapeared, it has evolved.

"Restricted by art rules"? These "rules" still exist. Look at art schools. If there was nothing about art to learn about, why would they exist? There are plenty of critics around, who's more than willing to rip a picture apart.
That's what wrong with a huge majority of manga artists: they ignore these rules. They think manga is just their ticket to becoming an artist. Fundamentals, what fundamentals? These people don't realize that, like with most skills, it takes practice. They find that real people are too difficult for them to master, so they take the more appealing, simplified, anime face instead. And when someone points out the error, they cower and say it's their "style". It's in this way that art is deteriorating.
You can pin down Picasso and argue that his art is no better, but if you've ever seen his sketches before, it showcases his firm understanding of anatomy. Besides, he was acclaimed for another reason, but I won't get into that.
I'm not saying that every manga artist is like that, and it's those people who shine above the carbon-coping posers. 😐
And you must be able to understand reality before you can warp it to benefit yourself.

Monsters and none-sensical creatures, buildings, ships, weapons and assorted aloof looking people.
As long as it qualifies as a doodle or just for fun, it usually turns out pretty well...better than my work drawings... 😛

I like drawing things like... comic strips. You know with their nifty little styles. And I actually do have a good grasp of anatomy which I think hurts me whenever I draw anything styalised because I want to shift it to proper(or more proper) porportions. Also I like drawing bulging muscle men but I suck at legs so those are usually gut up... Also eyes... I draw eyes all the time
