I just watched eps. 167 of Inuyasha and according to ANN, this is the last episode of the series. To anyone else who has seen it as well as the movies and even the OVA (if there's any), did they actually beat Naraku? Im very disappointed at the ending and im wondering if this is the norm for most anime based on Rumiko Takahashi's manga?

I mean, Ranma 1/2 ending was rubbish and now Inuyasha :( The only anime I can remember that at least had a closure was Maison Ikkoku

The anime adaptation of inuyasha was canceled because the ratings dropped too low in Japan.
If you want to know the rest of the story you should go to the original source, not the adaptations. The anime of Inuyasha was based on the manga series, who it's still ongoing with 532 chapters, I believe.
