Quote from Raeryn

I don't believe I've ever cried over the music itself, rather the feelings or memories of a situation it brought to mind.

Exactly what I was going to say.

The song in particular that comes to mind is "One more time, one more chance" by Masayoshi Yamazaki.
Even if you haven't seen Byousoku 5cm, if you listen to the lyrics and the tune, it's a pretty touching song.

Oh and also Pachelbel's Canon.

...amongst many other songs 🙄

Haha, I cried to "Graduation" by Vitamin C when I was really sad that I was graduating back then and all of my friends were going to different schools.

Actually, now I love songs that are sad, because their lyrics make me feel happy that all songs today aren't just shallow and/or filled with nonsense. (Lyrics are important to me.) Of course, songs can make me feel depressed (i.e. "Lilium" (for the tenth time) and "Into Dust" by Mazzy Star).

Yessss, it was just perfect to grasp the story emotions.

In my case, the music would have to be related to some really strong emotions, either from the past or the present, to make me cry, I guess. However, there are a plenty of great music that on the other hand cheer me up or make me “willing-to-go-for-it”. I prefer these since it is better be happy and I need cheering up from time to time.

Recently, I really like Snow Patrol, especially their song Run, and Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Not from anime, but still worthy to give them a try. 😉

Oh my God, a topic just for me. >.<
I'm such a frickin softie! I cry during songs all the time, depending on my mood...
The french have a great one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2OnxTL0VSg
is a prime example... first time I heard it I had no idea what he was singing, but after reading the lyrics, I cried even more... lol

I spent the last 45 minutes of LoTR the 2 towers crying cause of the music... It was hard to explain why I was in tears through the entire battle of helms deep, but if you can remember the music you'd maybe understand.

Um, let me think.... Oh yeah, I have a tendency to tear up during "Hallelujah" by Rufus Wainwright, also "If I ever leave this world alive" by Flogging Mollys.... um....

Heh heh... back when I was younger, I cried during Pokemon (the first movie) when Ash got turned to stone and all the pokemon were crying and their tears turned him back to flesh... not because it was sad, but yes, because of the music...

Jeebis, I am a softie. lol So yeah, I've cried because of just music before...

OMG, yeah! I requested the song for my graduation ceremony We all sang along as we left the building xD

QFFT.

Another song that got me was "You get me" (pun unintended) by Michelle Branch, particularly when I was reading Ichigo100%. There's even an AMV of the series using the song.

i didnt really remember crying because of a song...but because of the mood or environment the song has created for example i have cried in the movie metropolis while the "i cant help falling in love" is playing <btw..nice movie!>...anyways you dont cry because of the song but because of the mood and the way you are already feeling...

well...in my opinion... 😐

the song that made me cry was "Akatsuki no Kuruma" in Gundam Seed.
but I think it was more the scenes than the song.

I love that song~ It sounds super sad, right? I haven't seen the scenes to go with it though, so I can't really cry since I don't know what the English lyrics are.

The song "100 Years" by Five For Fighting always makes me cry. Even when I watched someone perform it in a talent show, I started bawling right in the middle of the auditorium. 🙁

Never cried over a song but these are the ones that resonated the most with me emotionally:

"Roads" - Portishead
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8us3432lh4M

Just a truly beautiful song. Nothing more need be said.

"Dancing with the Devil" - Immortal Technique
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzoEIunksYE

When I first heard this song, all I could say was "Maaaaaaan". Creepy, subversive, evil. Makes me shudder every time I hear it.

Full stop. I cried like a baby and then mentally composed a rock opera based around this song and the rest on the songs on the album (Five Score and Seven Years Ago).

...I like my music with plot. 🙄

Haha, anyone else find it ironic that a song about the devil and a song about god are right next each other?
