Now don't get me wrong, I love all the games, have actually brought several gaming systems just to playing them (God I'm so sad) and although the original will always have a special place in my heart. The third is by far the best.

Gameplay and monsters and all that aside, number three had the most complex set of characters- had the best storyline and it had Vergil. Dante also had a lot more personality- no offense.

Those two always stole the cut scenes- even Jester in all his insanity rarely managed to draw notice away from them, unless he was actively ranting.

I mean people loved the whole Dante/Vergil dynamic (and I mean that in a strictly brotherly way- for all you yaoi/slash/incest pervs out there... okay so I read it too, but it's beside the point right now) so much that capcom brought out a special edition of Devil May Cry 3 so you could play all over again as Vergil. (Speaking of which shouldn't you have that up as an option? Cos they really are different games.) Capcom has yet to do that with any other DMC release...

Loved three, but wasn't in love with it. Dante seemed too much like a dumb college kid, the game was brutally hard, and out of all of them it had the corniest dialogue. The first will always be the best. Haven't played the fourth, but I'm predicting it to be really good. It'll probably end up being not as good as the third or first, though.

No four comes before two. Mostly because Dante was way too dark in the second, so Capcom is never going back to that time period.
