help me figure out the name of this cooking anime

i watched it in chinese at least 10 years ago. it features a young boy as a talented cook, he has a rival who is about his age. if i remember correctly, the names are wei ji yang yi and yi ma respectively. sorry if the names sound weird to you, its in han yu pin ying. the anime is quite long, spanning more than 50 episodes... i think. i also remember there are quite a few different opening and ending songs. one of the ending songs particularly, it shows a lot of black and white photos. if it helps, i watched it in singapore every sat/ sun. so... maybe singaporeans will have a better idea 😕

i can't remember whether its set in japan or china. they cook all kinds of food, from fried rice to curry. i do remember they don't get ingredients as directly as Cooking Master Boy where they cut the whole cow in front of people just to get beef. and they don't any magical stuff, all they showcase is pure cooking skill. the young boy has also lost a couple of competitions and he's quite depress about it.

i think this anime is created in the 80's or early 90's
