Anywhere people can discuss the light novels? I just finished 2 volumes (there are 15 so far) and not surprisngly, there's way more in the books. The story there is much darker and deeper though. Without giving away too much, the heroine appears to be much older than her age as the writing is often focused on her thoughts - a lot of introspection, logical deduction, critical thinking, cognitive reasoning, etc as she and Edgar et al confront the situations they are thrown into as they fight a dangerous adversary from Edgar's past. A big draw for me is reading how her coolheaded thinking is constantly at odds with something it couldn't quite comprehend nor accept - an attraction to Edgar. She tells herself he is not to be trusted, but yet she is drawn to him as she gets to learn about who he really is, his weaknesses, the emotional burdens he has come to bear, etc. Edgar is a complex character with faults, more than a fair share of skeletons in the closet, and a cunning and ruthlessness that contrast starkly with his flawless outward appearance and rakish charms. Ugh. I could go on and on.
The anime seems to be lighter but I felt that knowing the full story and seeing some of that adapted so beautifully on screen just adds to the enjoyment of this series. The recently started manga series provides an additional dimension where one can indulge in this wonderful world created by the author. Don't know if there will be english translation of the novels but it is likely someone will pick up scanlating the manga (hopefully soon now? :-)

Answering my own post..there's some discussion, even an english translation(!!!!) of the first novel at crunchyroll...

I would LIKE to scanlate this manga, but I can't find where to buy it or where to download raws -___-. Would you have any idea of where to buy this manga, then?

It is, actually, better too know the original character Lydia was portrayed as, since if the anime is lighter than the novels, wouldn't Lydia's personality come off as different?

hi, sorry, no idea where to get the raws...the version i read was already scanlated into chinese. My impression is that there hasn't been enough pages published to put out a tankoubon that you can buy. So maybe it'll take a few more months of serializing in "The Margaret" (according to this website that's the magazine where the manga is serialized) to accumulate enough pages.

i don't know if the manga will be closer to the anime in terms of adaptation (and therefore lighter), or if it will attempt to be closer to the light novels. Remains to be seen.
