For an actual historical setting, I'd recommend Umi no Kishidan. If you're okay with more drama/smut, you might like Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori or Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago.
I'd recommend Legend of Nereid and Saver as well. Both are classified as historical, but are more historical-like other worlds.

fufufufufu, definitely Shoukoku no Altair. Just read it, it's got all you asked for, plus pretty and detailed art
edit: Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori (Anatolia Story) and Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago are both really well made shoujo, and what really makes them shine is how the heroines develop from your typical weak-willed, kyah-at-everything, annoying female lead into strong, independent women you can hosnestly admire, into queens
Saver is also pretty good, if you like shoujo

I also recommend both Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago and Shuto Heru.
Chang Ge Xing - oops never mind, u were looking for ones similar to this one lmao I only know it by its Chinese name haha
Nobunaga no Chef - This one is interesting because the mc goes about diplomatic affairs with food lmao
Jin
Edit: Also, here's some more!
Akatsuki no Yona
Seirei no Moribito - you wanted war, but this one has assassins chasing after the MCs (who meet your other requirements). Thought I'd throw this one in here since it's a really good read/watch.
In Full Bloom (YON Jae-Won) - I remember this one being similar to Song of the Long March in terms of atmosphere.
Ichi - same case as Seirei no Moriboto, though this is less good. (still an interesting read)
Juuni Kokki - ok to access the story of this one, you'll have to watch the anime. But it is an amazing watch, and judging by what you wanted to read, you will love this one.
