Hunter x Hunter

This year's 31st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter × Hunter manga is going on an indefinite hiatus. The magazine will announce a resumption date for the manga when it has been decided.
The manga had resumed in April after a two-year hiatus since 2014's combined 37th/38th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2014. What was initially a two-week hiatus for the author's serious lower back pain extended until April 2016.

Again!?!? Oh, dear Neptune. Either the mangaka will die before this series is complete, or I will!

Of course let´s cancel one of the biggest selling comics of all time:
Hunter × Hunter 33 Est. Total Copies: 1,116,619
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-06-29/japanese-comic-ranking-june-20-26/.103776
And then there is his health, the back surgery he underwent in 2014 and his burnout. http://images.sgcafe.net/2016/05/vhjkhjfhf.png

I assume that SJ waits to get enough chapter together to restart a run in the actual magazine and they still haven´t changed publication forms to get reader above 30 or so, to get the Weekly SJ, for a few months. He lasted 10 chapters for the record. Not bad and good ones at that too! Check yo self before you wreck yo self Togashi.
See you in 18 months or so and the Weekly SJ is dead to me till then. The new Orochimaru special was good though.

You know, I shouldn't be surprised at such news...but I guess I am a little shock. I stopped before the Chimera Ant Arc started, so I'm out of the loop with the current happenings in the manga.

Still, I hope for the best regarding Togashi's issues with his health.

Berserk fans would understand your feeling as well. But still it's not as bad as George R R Martin's release speed.

You all should look up who J. D. Salinger is and how much he published after he hit the "big leagues" but i here for Kaitentsuki. Kishimoto wrote and drew a special about Orochimaru´s "son" 2 months ago. The quality difference to Baruto is night and day, not that i follow it, and it´s listed in the releases box.

I'm wondering why SJ never forced him to hire someone else to draw his chapters. After all he's got a best seller, and even if he can't draw I think he could manage to give directions to another mangaka. Hell, why not his wife ? And I don't believe it's something to be ashamed of.

It's Togashi's work and he can do as he pleases as long as he's got fans who put up with it. Residentgrigo is right, it's one of the best selling manga out there and there are many who wouldn't mind waiting for it even if it takes years. We fans have no right to complain. Don't like it? don't read it. I can't stand shounen but I bother with WSJ only cause of HxH. I've been reading it since 2011 and yes its been very painful and I'm sure even more so for those who've been fans since 1998. But, C'est la vie, peeps.

I feel your pain, my friend. Oh well, nothing to do but wait I guess.

Another reason why SJ will never speak up is because Togashi should own the manga. KISHIRO Yukito for example walked out on this very publishing house, due to a bad working relationship with his editor and then took his product elsewhere. Shueisha will miss out on (some) of the James Cameron money due to that. HxH is destined to be adapted again, one of these days too, so it would be suicide to cut of your own and money-printing flesh, even if i forget the print sales. Foreign rights would also become messy.
Now we wait and i have been a fan since 2001.

The combined fourth and fifth 2023 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter X Hunter manga is going on hiatus starting with the magazine's next issue, after taking Togashi's health into account.
In a letter published in the issue, Weekly Shonen Jump's editorial department said it consulted with Togashi, and decided that the manga should not follow a weekly serialized format going forward. The editorial department added that once it knows concrete details of the manga's return and how the manga will be serialized going forward, it will reveal the details in the magazine.
The manga returned after a nearly four-year hiatus in the magazine's 47th 2022 issue, which shipped on October 24. The manga had been on hiatus since November 2018.
Shueisha published the manga's 37th compiled book volume, the manga's first volume after four years, on November 4. Viz Media released the 36th volume in North America in August 2019.

Same frustration as I had with D.Gray Man. I actually hadn't finished reading that one yet.
