I might sound like a pervert asking this but why do some anime broadcasts get drastic censoring while other anime broadcasts get limited to no censoring at all? The material that needs to be censored is basically the same but its limited in one anime but drastic to the point of annoyance in another anime. What's more odd is this limited censoring is in a regular broadcast channels. Is there foul playing going on like rival studio with good channel ties preventing a less censored version of another anime done by another studio?

However, I will still ask if your considering the difference in channels? Take Shimoneta. The version they show of AT-X is uncensored but the censored version is used elsewhere.

I considered the channels. An anime with the same amount of censor material is censored drastically while in another anime its censoring is limited in the same channel.

There's also the broadcasting hour to be considered - the late night shows may get little to no censoring, while the early hour ones can be filled with it.

Also, what exactly is it they're censoring that annoys you? Violence? Ecchi content?
And how do you know they are censoring it? Have you compared it with manga versions?

Nearly half the screen is whited out is what annoys me. This white out is mostly for ecchi content. For violence from what I seen there is hardly ever censoring or not that noticeable. Manga versions had little to no censoring at all.

This is a marketing move to sell discs. At least 2/3 of anime are midnight productions only (so they are borderline OVAs) and thus need to shift Blue Ray to be profitable. If you saw all the show has to offer you will be less likely to buy it all. End of story (for the most part).

Edit: Timeslots in the day are unpayable so only shows with universal appeal as Dragon Ball, multimedia franchises as Pokemen or family shows as Shin Chan can be shown during the day. Censoring these is thus already a moot point (for the most part).

Depending on the timeslot it's aiming for. Ones with less ecchi and brutality are shown earlier, shows that have a lot of it have to be displayed in the evenings. Other than that there are special cases like different versions for different stations and such.
