Nothing exists (?)
Yamaoka Tesshu, as a young student of Zen, visited one master after another. He called upon Dokuon of Shokoku.
Desiring to show his attainment, he said: "The mind, Buddha, and sentient beings, after all, do not exist. The true nature of phenomena is emptiness. There is no realization, no delusion, no sage, no mediocrity. There is no giving and nothing to be received."
Dokuon, who was smoking quietly, said nothing. Suddenly he whacked Yamaoka with his bamboo pipe. This made the youth quite angry.
"If nothing exists," inquired Dokuon, "where did this anger come from?"

Ha! The story catched your attention because "Dokuon" was alike to "Dokkun"! 🤣
So, some kind of ontological proof from Zen? Ô_Ö

I have the feeling that I read that somewhere in one of my textbooks O_O
don't remember which subject though.
I like the little 'story' though.it has some kind of lesson in it 😃
I don't doubt existence,
but there was no proof that the
anger existed any more than anything in
that meeting either.
If Yamaoka Tesshu is trying to prove that nothing
exists, then it would be better not to say anything,
since saying something indicates existence.
If he tried to say that there is no goal for life,
then he didn't have any basis. He just leans to
believing.
If you speak of the mind-body dichotomy,
then all we can do is wait and see if science
can find an alternative answer for the current
belief.

I believe Descartes summed up this point rather well.
This signature was recovered from Hades to serve in my rotting armies.
