Hi guys,
so, lets face it. For unknown reasons the www.mangaupdates.com forum does not have the 10000 steady posters it deserves. But we do have quite a few categories. The people who post in one categorie are the same that post in all the other categories. So to keep me from keep on looking into the different categories to see whats happend i would like to see them pretty much lumped back together to manga general and chatter box and suggestions. Maybe keep the 18+ one.
anyway, want to know what you guys think.

I can agree to your point of view but I still voted NO.
Even though manga general is the main category of the manga topics, it doesn't hurt to have the other topics there as well.

There is indeed quite a "grey zone" between *manga general *and shounen/seinen for example, but it still helps ordening the threads a bit.

Cutting down on the number of categories wouldn't be that bad of a thing since there aren't that much (active) threads on the MU-forum anyway.
But still it's not that there's an abundance of categories to choose from so further cutting down would just be useless in my opinion.

Lets just stick with what we've got no? 😎

I think a few categories could be eliminated/merged, though not quite to the degree of bully_jesus's original post. Not a big deal to me, though, since I just hit the "new posts" link & see everything that's new...now if there were indeed 10000 steady posters, that wouldn't work so well... >(^_^)<

I'd say the forums are having a pretty steady growth rate. As far as categories.. yea I think that perhaps the Shoujo/Shounen forums were a bit overboard...

We were already planning to take down some categories...

i voted no because i think there are some stuff that are better fit for some sections then others, even shoujo/shounen. but won't it help to increase the popularity if you add something on the sidebar? most people will just click the BU Forum and then continue their question/comments there

I rarely use the forum index page, I only ever use the 'new posts' feature. Unless I'm looking for something unspecific that search doesnt really help on, and in that case the catagories help. (or for making a new topic).

In Manga Topics, I think that "Manga General" and "18+" are the only categories required.

There's still a category "martial arts" even when there's already a genre by that name. Could it possibly be removed?

You do realize this is a 2 year old topic about the forum categories/sections...

Anyway, for changes on category...I believe the admins said if you have problems with the categories you can submit a request change through the User CP.
