I'm back - but do you really care?

Well, I'm back - and I've just uploaded Cherry x Cherry chapter 11 on MangaFox, 2 days ago.
Since Mangahelpers is essentially dead, I doubt I'll be using that site anymore.
I'll also keep translating D-Frag!, alongside Pinko's releases.
Now, does someone with the authoritai wanna update the Cherry x Cherry and Because_I_Wanna group status pages?

We will not be adding any releases for your group until you get some kind of blog, website, forum, or IRC channel. Uploading it to a download site (like MangaFox or MangaTraders) does not count.

Alright, so my page on the mangahelpers site doesn't count anymore then?

Your mangahelpers page "counts"... but if you don't update it then there is no way to verify it through your group page.
Therefore, you either need to update the mangahelpers page (some still do), or you need to make another website... I suggest LJ, blogspot, or wordpress. Hell, you could even make a mediafire folder, and we'll use it. There's also been a few groups that just use an IRC channel to put download links in the topic.
So, we are not really picky... just no online readers (unless you create your own online reader... a few groups do that) or mass dowloader sites. Make a home for all your releases to live at.

To add on to Toto's reply, I've also seen some people simply making a forum thread/post as their main 'host' site ie. editing and updating in a new DL link each time a new chapter is released. 😛

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll start a blogspot, since I've done that before.
Shame about mangahelpers, and a really stupid decision by the manga companies - and very amerocentric - but, eh...
Seriously, manga is basically taboo in Australia, and virtually impossible to find except at at exorbitant prices. That decision will almost kill the manga industry outside of Japan and the US!
Honestly, I'm sick of Reading official translations that have replaced Japanese cultural references with things more "relatable"... to Americans.
Just as foreign to everyone else, but also lacking context!
Ah, well - that's my rant on the subject. Now, to go start that blog...

And since I AM American, it feels like they're underestimating me, and my reading comprehension skills. "They'll just be confused" or "They'll be worried by foreign culture" isn't exactly a flattering way for the localization to view us.

Ah, that would be annoying - basically pat on the head and told "nice little cultureless American, have a treat."
You yanks aren't as insular or fearful of foreign culture today as you were, say, thirty or forty years ago. Especially with the Internet!
At least they've started to stop flipping them.
