I'm wondering why you guys rate for rpgs, it's more like a movie for me than a game, I wouldn't even consider giving myself a score.
@Queen Pervy: if you like strategy, you should play wc3, it's really fun ^_^
True, playing the normal storyline is easy... and more akin of playing a visual novel or something. As long as you do thing right, which isn't even hard, you'll get there... (Even though I know people who get stuck and can't finish some RPGs)
But you have to give people who finish the extra quest, do all that crazy stuff a rating they deserve. I mean... finishing FFIX in less than 12 hours to get Excalibur II requires some kind of insane dedication.. and is also extremely hard. So yeah.. imo you deserve a 10/10 rating in rpg if you can get ALL secrets of ALL RPGs you play.
I try to do that in every Final Fantasy games I play. I think I might have done it from FFVII - FFIX. Finished FFX as well, beaten all the dark aeons and the boss after that, got all the main weapons, all the blitz ball techniques but wasn't able to complete the arena 🙁
Currently playing FFXII but had to stop since I don't have a memory adaptor to transfer my saves to the ps3.
I used to play RPG like that when I was 14y, I didn't care about the story just trying to get every weapon secret and stuff.
But now I would rather to play rpg with decent story than one with good gameplay.

Most FF games has good storylines. Same goes for Dragon Quest, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Persona/Shin Megami Tensei

I didn't include Breath of Fire III as I played the psp version and didn't really like it. I might try the original version if I could get a hold of it. Never played Breath of Fire IV, Xenogears and Skies of Arcadia unfortunately. Only Suikoden i've played is no. 3. Forgot to mention, I also enjoyed Valkyrie Profile despite the crazy levelling system.

yeah...i liked disgaea...disgaea 2 was great but it didn't have the impact disgaea had on me...i hated the other nippon ichi games like phantom brave and l'pucelle tactics though Makai Kingdom had potential to be as funny as disgaea...
the anime of disgaea was a real disappointment...i'm hoping the anime for disgaea 2 will be better...apparently its gonna run for 70+ eps

I'm generally very high ranked, but my fps skills are only a little above average. Gaming is my number one hobby, so I think I'm pretty good at it. Of course, I'm being rather subjective with my analysis, so this may be off base.
Edit: also, I'm much more focused on American and Nintendo games. Unless it's from nintendo, I usually don't give Japanese games the time of day.

To put it simply I would say overall a 8/10. My strong points are games that include anything that has to do with a gun though. 😛
