acdsee is the best in all viewing aspects and hamana too, but i choose cdisplay because of a big factor and that is right>left reading... if acdsee has it, then i would use it for life
btw, any other good readers with right>left option?

I've recently started using CDisplayEx. I like it cause of the full screen and all the filetypes it supports. And if you play around with the registry (Don't Recommend!!) you can turn on thumbnails on zip and rar files.

Windows Picture & Fax Viewer was default, does the job, so I use that.

Oh, nice! I just tried the Ex version, and it is everything that CDisplay is, but better. Works faster, looks better, resume feature, more formats...
Thanks! 😀

Um... Windows Picture Viewer... omg imsuchaloser.
I do have Manga Reader, but it doesn't read .png files, so I'm forced to go back to WPV.
If I were the rain that binds together the earth and sky, who in all eternity will never mingle...would I be able to bind the hearts of people together?

Well, if your using XP then you can navigate to your CDisplayEx folder (Ex: C:\Program Files\CDisplayEx) and then run "regthumbs.bat". This will enable thumbnails for *.cbz
and *.cbr files. But *.cbz and *.cbr files are just .zip and .rar files renamed. So I modified the registry to thumbnail *.zip and *.rar files. Here is the Registration Entries file I made:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CompressedFolder\ShellEx{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{EF7605D6-C512-4F90-827B-5DE32DAB94F7}"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WinRAR\ShellEx{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{EF7605D6-C512-4F90-827B-5DE32DAB94F7}"
** Modifying your registry is highly dangerous and should only be done by experts. If you don't know what you are doing you could damage you OS.

Sorry but uh...what exactly does this do? With my limited knowledge on the subject, it looks like you are changing the file type associations for zip and rars to open with CDisplyEx, but you hardly need to use the registry for that... So really I'm just confused. 🤣

Well, if you don't understand then I wouldn't advise trying it. See, I'm adding a ShellEx to the file associations, not changing the program which opens it. It works the same way the thumbnails work on Windows Picture Viewer files (jpeg, png, ect.).
With regedit, I can add "ShellEx" (Shell Extension) to the file type.

See,
{BB2E6 17C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1} is for thumbnails. And
{EF7605D6-C512-4F90-827B-5DE32DAB94F7} is the CDisplayEx thumbnailer.
And so you get this:

Instead of this:

Oooh, I see. I forgot windows could do that. I've had thumb previews disabled since I first got this computer to speed up folder loading, whoops. 😛

The thing I really love from CDisplay most is its powerful mouse features. If I'm in lazy mode (which is most of the times) I will only use one hand. One hand manga-reading with keyboard is fine, but I prefer using the mouse better because I can scroll the pages faster (and also, easier finger movements, ...but not true for arm movement).
I set CDisplay to follow my mouse movement (no need to hold and drag to scroll the pages... and it's better than using the mouse wheel IMO), single left click for next page, right click for previous page, double right click for menu, and middle click for page jump. satisfaction =D
CDisplayEx (as v1.4) lack mouse features - beside scrolling and double clicking, though I can see that it's really powerful in term keyboard navigation (with fully customizable shortcuts).
PDisplay is better than CDisplayEx in this department, but it lack the mouse-follow feature and some other image fitting/stretching issues. Though you can set it to lock-zoom the full page and acquire something like the mouse-follow feature (but is inverted, and it lags the computer if you zoom the whole page).
So, does anyone know other program that can make mouse users feel like a king? =P
I used the plain old Windows picture and fax viewer for a long time, but now I usually use IrfanView.
I have CDisplay too and that's Ok, I like being able to navigate without unzipping. The mouse controls are nice if I'm on my desktop, but more often than not I load my manga on to my laptop so I can laze around and read in bed more comfortably.
The mouse controls don't work so well with the touch pad. And I like the hotkeys for Irfan better than CDisplay. That makes a difference when it's all about resting comfortably and reading.

I used to use Windows Picture and Fax Viewer... but now I have a new computer with Windows Vista. Windows Vista doesn't have Windows Picture and Fax Viewer... so I don't read manga now. Any suggestions? (I already tried CDisplay and I couldn't work it; it's just too hard to work.)

I'd say CDisplayEx, but if you didn't like CDisplay then I don't know. Also, Windows Vista doesn't have Windows Picture and Fax Viewer? What does it have then? Can it open ZIP files. Sorry for the questines but I'm thinking on buying a copy of Vista or getting a new computer.
