So I'm looking for something like Basara, Superior, Blade of the Immortal (misleading title is misleading; see below) and Kanata Kara, in which the main lead/POV Charfalls in love with and/or befriends (again, misleading title is misleading) the lead antagonist, and must defeat him/her.

Notes:

• No petty HS/college/etc. rivalries, please.
• Accordingly, fantasy/historical fiction (100+yrs back) would be nice.
• Josei/Seinen preferable, but not necessary.
• Preferably either completely scanlated or completed in status of origin
• The longer the series, the better.
  + It would be amazing if the POV char actually manages to kill the antagonist. Ugh I need to read something in which that actually happens.
