The editorial department at Shueisha's Jump Square magazine announced that the manga version of Tomohiro Matsu and Peco's Mayoi Neko Overrun! romantic comedy light novel series ended serialization. The announcement did not specify a reason for the sudden halt to the series, only noting that the series ended "due to circumstances."

The editorial department apologized to the readers who were looking forward to the manga resuming, and thanked readers who had been following the series. The editorial department also revealed that the second volume of the series, which was released on September 3, would be the last compiled volume Shueisha will release.

To Love-Ru -Trouble- manga artist Kentaro Yabuki drew the manga adaptation, which began serialization in Jump Square in January 2010. A 13-episode anime adaptation of the light novel series aired last year. Shueisha released the ninth volume of the light novel series in July 2010.

The story of Mayoi Neko Overrun! revolves around Takumi Tsuzuki, a boy who lives with his older "sister" Otome, although the two have no blood ties between them. Otome manages a run-down confectionery store called Stray Cats. One day, Otome picks up a mysterious beautiful girl off the streets.
