Anyone else excited about this movie? I just watched the trailer on youtube...looks awesome. I'm so glad they're sticking to the original concept. If you don't know about it Watchmen is a comic book by Alan Moore, same guy who wrote V for Vendetta. It's a very dark take on superheroes, but really really good. I can't wait till next year when it comes out!

Yeah... I'm a big Alan Moore fan ( have lots of his comics/novels)
But I'm always a bit skeptical when Hollywood gets their hands on titles like this.

Hollywood renditions of Moore's novels don't usualy stay true to the originals, but I can't wait.

I just bought the trade paperback over Christmas after not having read it since it originally came out. The story still holds up but the art, even for it's time, was not that great. Looks like this movie is going to give the story the visuals it deserves. And since it's the guy who directed 300, I'm sure he won't screw it up. Really looking forward to this.

So, I just went to the midnight release of the movie in Imax theaters and it was fantastic. Really well done, but I am too tired to say any more right now and I have class in less than 4 hours so I should go. If you were debating on whether or not to go though, go, it is worth it.
Yeah I was excited when i saw the trailer being shown in USA when I was there on a trip, saying "I am so watching that!"
I come home to crappy england...it's an 18 😐
Just, FML
I could get away with making myself look 18, but if they ask me for ID im screwed. Ah well...looks like i'm waiting for the dvd...

I saw it opening day last night. Let's just say that it follows that book religiously, which I love, but, it was TOO long. There were moments where I wanted to get up and strech. But besides that, the movie was near perfect. Btw, Rorshack's prison scenes were by far the best and my favorite!

REVIEW: No spoilers in it though.
I have to say that I went into the movie knowing only that it's based in an alternate timeline where we won Vietnam and Nixon was re-elected for 5 presidential terms.
The comments from my friends who had read the book were:
"Wow, Rorschach was dead-on accurate."
It was visually pretty. There is a reason it has an R rating; sex, violence, gore, and lots of (digital, but full-frontal) naked blue man. They didn't shy away from anything.
It was entertaining. I never once even thought about looking at my watch during the movie, which is always a good sign for me personally that it's keeping me engaged. It was a bit long, but I never actually thought about it during the movie.
And there were some great trailers in front of it: Terminator: Salvation, Wolverine, (the new) Star Trek, and a few more.
As someone who didn't know what the story was, I did figure things out fairly quickly, which is something I don't normally do in movies. But it still surprised me in the end. I was well-pleased with it.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Huge Watchmen fan. Saw the movie and LOVED it!!!
REVIEW:
Okay, the entire opening credits sequence was just brilliant. Almost made me cry. The entire movie stuck very true to the original graphic novel, although they shortened the dialogue and made the fight scenes more extravagent (which works well for the film) and they upped the violence quite a bit. I liked how they mixed that gritty, realistic type violence with the very stylized, well-choreographed action scenes of most superhero films. The casting was PERFECT!! Every character was exactly how i imagined them, and Jackie Earle Haley should win an oscar for his performance as Rorschach. I was a little skeptical about the way Ozymandias looked, but it turned out much better than expected, because the actor was able to give you the feel and personality of ozy, without actually looking a whole lot like him. I also liked the ending change. To me, the giant squid was always kinda ridiculous. I love how Dr. Manhattan ended up saving the world by uniting everyone against him. I also liked the added emotion at the end, especially with Rorschach's death. My friend next to me (who has never read the comic) actually cried when rorschach died! Now, to the things I didn't like. I thought the omition of most the psychiatrist's character was kind of annoying. I loved that subplot in the graphic novel. And i also thought they could have put a little more dialogue in at some parts. But overall, a great movie from beginning to end. I couldn't have asked for a better adaptation of my favorite graphic novel. It ain't perfect, but I think it's as close to perfect as a watchmen adaptation could get without being 6-8 hours long.

It was cool. I liked even if I've never read the novels of it though it was pretty long.
