So I'm curious, what books did u have to read? And how many of them have you actually read? 😀
Maybe there are some similarities to my country?? Maybe there are some really special books in your country?
I had to read:
Anne Frank
W. Shakespear - Romeo an Juliet (Romeo und Julia) 🙁
G. E. Lessing - Nathan the wise (Nathan der Weise) 😐
F. Schiller - The Robbers (Die Räuber) >:-(
J. W. Goethe - Faust I 🙂
G. Grass - Crabwalk (Im Krebsgang) 🙁
F. Dürrenmatt - The Visit (Der Besuch der alten Dame) 😀
W.Shakespear - Hamlet 😐
Sophokles - Antigone 🙂
J. Anouilh - Antigone 🙂
H. Hesse - Der Steppenwolf >:-(
F. Kafka - The Metamorphosis (Die Verwandlung) 😀
J. Becker - Jacob the liar (Jakob der Lügner) 🙂
F.Schiller - Maria Stuart 😀
Those are all that I can remember, I think there were some more and I've read them all. Well, except for the ending of The Robbers I hated it^^

I think this thread --> School-Required Reading is a good place to start comparisons. 🙂
(I think most of these were elementary/grade school to mostly high-school/secondary school reading.)

Fortunately, not too many of them, I hate when someone obligate me to do it... Most of them were about young people and their experiences (when hormones are making their job XD), u know, the kind of ''educational''. Here the literature isn't too promoted.
By myself, I have read a lot but I can recommend you the best sellers of all time:
- Crime and Punishment, by Fedor Dostoievsky (my favorite, so far)
- The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
If you like utopic ones, maybe you'd like The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, or Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Really, those classics are still making me happy. Hope if you have a chance, take a look.

ooOooooh... "madam hobbit"... I rather like that... though... it makes me feel like I'm either running a brothel or I'm old... 😛

Don't worry... it's only because I spent like three hours trying to remember all the books I "read" (sparknotes, fully read, partially read...) in high school. 😀
Ohhhhh, lol, I remember your post(s) in that thread... sooo looong, hobbitelf. xD Hehe.

Yeah! That's when google/sparknotes were my friends. 😛 I really did read the books that I liked though! Or... if they were plays, I read them... but stream-of-consiousness... that was a big no no...
