Hallo Everyone,

I'm currently in the process of developing a Manga Cataloguing application and one of the first hurdles I ran into was coming up with a method of tagging Scanlated Manga Archives in such a away that Manga metadata is carried with the file wherever the file went. From that requirement was born the MangaCatTag Java library which you can see here:

MangaCatTag

You can think of a MangaCatTag as something similar to ID3 tags that you would find in MP3 files where if you view the properties of the file, you can see the band name, album, track size, track number, etc

My Question to scanlators is this:

Are scanlators interested in tagging their archives so that the manga information is carried with the file where ever it went...?

Their are inherent benefits to this system namely:

  1. Information is encoded at a byte level into the file which will reduce incidences of IP theft.
  2. Scanlators will be credited with work.
  3. Programs can interrogate tags for information without having to read download the whole manga. This would be especially usefull for people who want know what they are downloading.

I would like to here your oppinions 🙂
