dammit i've been waiting 25 minutes. where are the girls!

I'm still here!

I really got into anime through Bleach (the king of anime, long may it reign forever). The cute guys were really just a side benefit to the awesome action and plot. Before I got into anime, I actually couldn't stand romance. Now, after reading some shojo, it's alright, but western movies still make me squirm.

shonen manga is pretty much a plethora of bishonen idols for girls to drool over & day-dream about. i guess i can't speak for everyone, but it can be seen from the numerous productions of fanfiction and fanfare over supposed pairings in otherwise neutral shonen manga, that shonen manga is used even more than shoujo manga to heighten the standards of guys that girls would be, even remotely, interested in.

in other words, even manga/anime that aren't shoujo, have boys that girls can fall in love with; as long as it's well drawn, of course.

So girls read stuff just because of the characters? O_O

Sadly, that is often the case. I can't stand to read a manga even if it has the best plotline if the art is fugly.

obviously not, there would be no characters if there were no story as a whole. but as i see it, anyone would not be likely to indulge in a particular manga or anime series if it were not visually appealing in the first place. and again, i am not speaking as though i have knowledge of the entire female race. this is just my opinion based on how myself, and other female otaku's i know, tend to think. everyone is different, and individual and they have their own opinions of this and that.

Well, think about it. In manga, the images make up about 90% of the message. It has to be appealing, otherwise people will have difficulty in seeing the plot through the 'art'.

It'd be awesome to date a guy otaku ^^ I'd love to watch anime with somebody and not always alone, but I don't really know any boys who are into anime... Maybe that's with other female otakus too? Or they just want better future with someone who'd be a great husband and father and who doesn't watch anime 24/7 : p well, dunno.

so are you saying that you'd read any kind of manga, even if it was horribly drawn, as long as there is a plot going on that you enjoy? you wouldn't mind if the characters were drawn as stick figures?

I've said it in the "Does the art matter thread."

We never do manage to keep on topic, do we?

I've only ever met female otakus, mostly juniors in high school. The only two guys I know I hardly ever talk to, and one of them is in his mid twenties to thirties. So, since I'm not going to jump a guy just cause he's an otaku, I've never really considered dating an otaku to be a feasable scenario. That's basically my reason for not dating one. Although I'm sure there are many in my school, they're not all that high profile.

Humm and about the confession topic I've noticed in a lot of animes that girls normally do the confessing rather then the guys o_o;;; IRL it seems like the other way around most of the time.

It could be a cultural thing too... but I really have no idea.

It is somewhat of a cultural thing, in the west at least in the U.S. I don't thinjk I've ever heard of a real confession, I have however seen people say 'Would you like to go out with me?/wanna hook up/give me a call/random pick up lines/' but that's not really a confession. Seriously I think it would be easier if it were a real confession. Then you could be like umm... I'm really sorry but I don't feel the same about you and I don't want to hurt you in the long run. >_<

fook im a guy and i looked at this and voted.

voted "cause they aren't as cute as guys in anime/mangas"

i bet if that was an answer for guy otakus finding girl otakus..... 9102839028139832108080 of the guys who voted would vote for that. except repleace guy with girl...

XD Japanese idols for the win!

Oh my gosh she's so cute! I want black contacts, they make your eyes look bigger and doll like XD

personally, i think that the reason otaku girls aren't attracted much to otaku guys, is because otaku girls are otakus for the simple reason that they can't find a perfect guy in their daily lives, so they turn to anime/manga for the idealistic romances they, themselves, wish to pursue. and not to be harsh, but most otaku guys do not fit that image. 😎

I dunno, doesn't that kind of discount the otaku ladies who love reading stuff that isn't shoujo/romance?

I know girls love their fair share of Berserk/Claymore too.

Haha they lie they read that for the romance too. Inori is exactly right about the shounen (pretty and ideal bishies and the romance)I know two friend of mine do not like shoujo but they read things like Bleach, Deathnote and Naruto for the slightly there romance. (Some of it more imagined than others) ^_^ I may love the story/the fighting/the characters in Bleach but really the romance (and rukia) is the cincher. And though say Hana Yori Dango is one of my favorite shoujo it can't compare to my love for Bleach. (Well maybe now that Bleach is boring me...)

Also, to answer someone's question, nothing wrong with Love Hina and things but I'd feel awkward watching/reading things like Mahromatic with a guy because all of the perverted parts >_< I was with my friend and was telling him I liked stuff like that and he was like... o__O;; erm

I forgot another reason well it seems most otaku guys (and girls) seem to love asians and put other races beneath them. Sigh not that there is anything wrong with asians (like I said I don't discriminate. I like everybody ) So if your hispanic or black you may not feel like you'd be asked out anyway.

Also, suggestion for some Otaku guys.

  • Like everyone said shower plz kthx XD I like well groomed people...
  • If the otaku girl is shy - try not to scare her
  • You know seems like most girls like yaoi I dunno what you can do with that but you know be creative? (I don't like it but yeah whatever)
  • Like Inori said alot girls read shoujo because they lack romance in their lives, try to do some of the stuff in there (excluding things like forcing yourself/kiss on her because that doesn't work in rl)

Really if you see an otaku girl just ask her out, if you like her.

LIES!!! I watch Claymore for the sheer badassness and the fact that these chicks are running around with huge ass swords shredding things to pieces. I love it because it always chooses the best route for how to kill stuff, which you usually expect them not to do. 🤣

But yes, it is a cultural thing. In the states nowadays, people tend to use random pick up lines to "hook up" with the girl and then later they'll "go steady."

Me and my boyfriend on the other hand...I asked him to go see a movie with me one night, and then we wandered around CVS because it started to rain, and then when we went outside he asked me how I felt about him, I told him I like him and we decided to try dating. He gave me a kiss on the cheek before he left me~ My cheek was so hot afterwards. 😀 I can't believe it's almost been a year since that time. 😲 But I guess we're just exceptions, since we both knew how much we liked anime and manga by then. 🤣
