O_O I want an Otaku BF... but most Otakus I meet are ONLY Otaku's.
I like guys that have something else going on in their lives as well.

Plus, a lot of Otaku's I've met are very shy...and I'm really shy. So it doesn't really go any where. LOL

I had a fling with a guy who was the biggest closet nerd and we would chill and play video games all day. Talk about anime and manga at work. It was heaven... but he was the biggest pot head so it didn't really work out...

I guess I like closet nerds. biggrin Ones where you can't tell they are nerds unless they tell you. Because your Naruto shirt... is not sexy.

I'm not sure which is harder, having someone overcome a drug addiction or overcome an affinity with 2D girls or games (especially world of crackcraft). I think its pretty much in the same league in terms of difficulty. Its probably alot easier just to get somebody open minded and introduce them to anime/manga none

Yeah, that trying to get addicts better deal doesn't work so well in real life. My friend tried that and it ended in failure and attempted suicide no And I definately agree with you, especially since all the guys that I've met who are obsessed with warcraft are awkward to talk to. It's a game, not a life roll eyes

I would love to find an otaku guy who shares my interest in anime and manga, but it's not my number one concern. It's really just about being lucky enough to have that in common I guess.

I kind of agree really, I once spent alot more time on anime and manga but now its normally around 2hours (and 3hours at the anime society but its sociable so it doesn't count!). I probably spend less than 5% of the time awake watching anime and it really doesn't bother me if they don't get it, but I wouldn't hide it from her either.

Quote
1. i dont know many "otakus" boys/men

Quote
2. the few i know are either my cousins or brother (my family its an otaku farm)

Quote
3. The few i know and that arent relatives, dont like the same mangas... or dont even know what a manga is! i mean i prefer manga to anime, and when they dont know what it means its a 100% turn off... weebos!

Quote
4. if we like similar anime/manga, not just because he's an otaku and that likes the same mangas i do... i would go out with him! i must like him God Dammit!

Quote
5. Some of them are really freaky and has the thing for moe anime girls, makes me think that they are potential pedos, and i would never allow then to be close to my little cousins.

Quote
6. the guys that are to much into hentai/porn, arent allowed to enter the list roll eyes

Quote
7. If a guy its inside otaku stuffs so much that has forgoten other hobbies its not in my list

Quote
8, I preffer gamers to otakus, cause gamers rock on games and that's hot

Quote
9. It's hard to find a St8 guy that likes yaoi laugh nah im kidding... its hard to get one that understand and accepts this taste of mine bigrazz

Quote
10. I dont look for an otaku, I look for a man.

No one in real life would strike me as an otaku. Not even my close friends know the extent of it. They know I like anime/manga/gaming but they don't actually KNOW how long I spend on it haha.

All the otakus I've known weren't date-able. They were my brothers friends and I know what they talk about. Half the time it's beating each other the other half it's about hentai. Disturbing.

Now that I'm in college, there are a bunch in my Japanese class but they're all super loud in class talking about Haruhi that it's really annoying.

I dunno.

i love anime, manga.
When i'm really free (which means when I don't hang out with my friends or doing anything else), I would read / watch them.
But being around friends and going out with them is more interesting than watching anime/reading manga to me.

In a girl's opinion, I think girls prefer going out with boyfriend, doing romantic things rather than watching anime/reading manga all days. Even if that girl is in love with manga/anime.
I myself is an example.
I can watch anime with you, but when I'm being with you and all you can think of doing in our date is watching anime, that's not gonna work, you know. But if we're doing a combination, like, shopping around and maybe bumping in an anime shop, or going to eat Japanese food that we saw in a manga together, etc, that is another thing.
In a relationship, you always have to refresh things. That's why extend your hobby. And if you can do so, you'll easily find a girl who is interested in manga/anime and will glad to watch anime with you occasionally on your dates.
But if you want to find an otakuish - real one - obsessed with manga/anime and everything she talks about somehow related to manga/anime, then ..... but uhm... do you think you really want to date a girl like that?

my bf is into games. And he got me to interest in games like he does. We do playing games together everyday (1-2 hours) - but after that we go out and have fun. Games/anime/manga is just a little part of our daily life. If you can do that, I guess you'll definitely can find someone who share your interests. ^_^ Good luck.

I would like a bf that is into anime/manga but definitely not an otaku. Most likely we would spend ALL our time watching anime or reading manga or talking about it and I'd never live it down if he preferred virtual girls to me besides too many otaku guys nowadays are just into hentai and I don't like hentai

I don't like the term otaku, therefore I do not use the term in regards to myself. I have never dated anyone outside of dating sims so I'm hesitant to start a relationship with anyone, but anyone who would call themselves is a turn-off to me. Although no one's actually seriously asked me out before.

Anyways, dating and love is not something I understand in real life.

I wish I can dish it out with a just someone who likes the manga I do but I don't know anyone who reads manga and watched anime as a hobby even among my friends so it's not the first thing I even talk about or mention to people I know or even meet for the first time. Because manga and anime isn't popular culture here, it's hard to express my enjoyment of it so no one actually knows except for my brother and sister probably. But even with my siblings, they don't read much manga so we only find common ground in the mangas we are commonly interested in. For my brother-shokugeki or some shounen and for my sister-skip beat mainly (there have been other mangas before but we don't dish it out much). And that's all the manga talk I do with people in the real world-most of my talk is virtual on forums and such. People around me seem to look down on the culture of comic reading and anime watching so I don't express my like-ness of it ever actually which kind of makes me sad but at the same time I like that it's a "me time"

I don't know anyone who is an otaku in real life nor someone who reads manga/anime avidly so I don't think it's my place to judge the possible but not necessarily realistic behavior of an otaku that would make me adverse to them.

Why do you assume girls aren't looking for guy otakus? It's hard for both parts to find someone with these qualities. It doesn't mean there's no one. I could ask you the same question, boys. I think the difficulty resides in the fact that we (girls and boys otaku) are quite quiet about it.

I'm a girl.
My dream partner is someone who would like videos games and mangas/animes. I just LOVE them and want to share my passion with someone.
I also like people who love science. Scientifics have a nerdy, intelligent, side I love.

I wouldn't even mind watching hentai with the person if the person is into that (I am).

Of course, these aren't my only criterias for a lover, but they are things I really love. So don't assume there's no one out there!

I can't vote in this topic... I totally would date a fellow anime nerd. I mean, we have similar interests. We could be the best of friends. We could recommend manga to each other and share inside jokes! eek check yeah, I'd date an otaku. Bonus points if he's awkward, adorably so.

I probably wouldn't mind dating one if they're open minded about trying out new things. I'd love being able to recommend stuff to each other and have discussions and whatnot. However, the term otaku nowadays seems to refer to anime obsessed guys who like ecchi and moe which really aren't my taste. So I guess I probably wouldn't date an otaku, but I'd consider dating someone who liked anime/manga, as long as it doesn't comprise their only interest, since I have a lot of other interests besides anime/manga/ light novels as well.
