Yes. Sometimes a person's gender and biological sex aren't the same and therefore they prefer to use pronouns that fit with who they fell they are, and not depending on their biological sex. Some even prefer gender neutral pronouns that don't include he or she. Gender is more complicated than most cisgender people think. 😃 You can visit this page for an introduction on gender issues (and read the comments!):

This is still confusing, I read shoujo ai if the story is good and i don't let the demographic ruin me enjoying a nice manga but I don't really like shoujo ai and i don't like bara either though im a yaoi fangirl and i prefer shounen ai to yaoi its just that most good BL manga's are yaoi

I just look for a good plot and realistic relationships, though the realistic ones are few and far between and I frequently have to sacrifice quality when I get too bored. I don't like many of the yuri's because the majority of them are written for guys who find gay female relationships attractive.

of course. but it is generally for guys where the mother/older sister/ teacher etc is freakingly hot and voluptuous. i prefer the ones for girls where the guys are just so freaking cute but still have manly outlook, like yoru made matenai and Boku no Chikyuu o Mamotte.

I tried the first one and it was okay but the heroine really pissed me off with her crying so I stopped in chapter 1 and the boy was in elementary school 😐 and she in high school, I would prefer shota with no sex and they're the same age like Gakuen Alice though it isn't really shota

It's a rarity that a bara manga gets licensed, maybe ones a year.
Their aren't that many good bara mangas, so this might be the reason for it.
The good news is that a good bara manga is released in a couple weeks. 😉

I like shounen-ai (as long as it's not completely unrealistic) but at the same time I hate yaoi. Same goes to a straight hentai though. I don't mind sex being implied (Banana Fish might be a good example) but it really dislike the scenes being drawn, and it's doesn't matter whether it's yaoi, yuri or hentai.
When it comes to yuri/shoujo-ai.. well that's funny. I'm a bisexual girl and I can't bring myself to reading any of them. Soujo-ai seems a bit too naive, probably the same way shounen-ai is to boys.
I guess I'm more of a "romance/shoujo/josei" reader.

Yaoi and yuri is different from Hentai, It's like somehow less than smutty but still smutty shoujo when Hentai is sex sex sex more sex then go back and have some more sex, I prefer shounen ai to yaoi but there are only few good shounen ai so I just skip over the sex scenes for yaoi but you can't skip over Hentai sex scenes as the whole manga is just sex!

And that's just what makes it worse. I wouldn't touch hentai exactly because of it being, to put it simply, porn. While in yaoi you can sometimes get into the plot, just to find yourself histericaly flapping pages, and then realizing, that some of the important talk happened midway..
