I'm looking for a Manga that thematises the coming out of the closet with more realistic repercussions(negative ones) or at least some hardships on the way to true love. It can also have a sad ending.
I'm already reading Blue Flag.

Fujimoto Go did a great short called "Kikyou" that touches on some of the fundamental arguments surrounding the issue. Tagame Gengoroh's Otouto no Otto ( "My Brother's Husband" ) has gained such traction that it actually has a live-action adaptation as well. I've read other yaoi that address the subject, but these are the two that stick with me. Notably, both of these are technically bara, but I think that's because the BL genre overall is shifting toward acceptance and inclusion rather than just novelty and fetishization; so, you now have gay authors being more visible and sharing their own thoughts and perspectives on the subject 🙂
