I'd choose to go to the future... pretty far into the future as well - we already have History recorded to an extent on the past... So i would rather see what the future brings? Maybe i'd love to witness the end of mankind! Would be so Epic. Giant earthquake? Ice age? Exploding Sun? I wonder.

I just stopped being an atheist. Not. On topic: A more selfish view: I can go back in time and buy lots of oil, take it back with me. I could go back in time and since I'm from the future the stock markets are going to be mine. I can go to the past, invent things and get rich cuz I know how they were invented since I'm from the future etcetc. I mean sure I could end up destroying the precious time equilibrium and cease to exist myself, but that's as unlikely as being able to mess with it in the first place 😀

I would go to the past. The future is kind of risky, plus it takes the fun out of it. Though you could bring out some cool invention, and say that you created it, and make a time paradox that way. 🤣 I would love to see how religion started as well. You could refute it easily then, with solid proof.
