Designer Haruhiko Mikimoto to Draw New Macross Manga

Gunbuster) will be drawing the tentatively titled manga The Super Dimension Fortress Macross the First in the recently revealed Macross Ace magazine from [sitelink=publishers.html?id=94]Kadokawa Shoten[/sitelink]. The January issue (on sale on November 26) of [sitelink=publishers.html?id=94]Kadokawa Shoten[/sitelink]'s Monthly Shonen Ace magazine will make the announcement. Vol. 001 of Macross Ace will debut on January 26, 2009 with 80 pages from Mikimoto's new manga. The manga will feature the star of the original Macross space war romance story that Mikimoto co-created, Lynn Minmay.
The magazine will also feature a tentatively titled Macross Frontier: Secret Visions story from YOSHINO Hiroyuki, the series script supervisor for Macross Frontier.

Macross is what got me into anime and manga, way back then. I'm glad Macross Frontier has rekindled Japan's interest in this universe enough for a push to get more series. Looking forward to both of these titles.

Though I'm a fan of Macross, I'm a bit apprehensive about a story centered on Minmay.

Key word here is "featured". It doesn't specifically say that she will be the main character.

I like Macross overall though actually I kinda hate Minmay in the TV Series. My thought of her became better after watching the movie version though... Macross 7 kinda repetitive each episode but still not bad. And I think Macross Frontier is the best Macross series I've watched...
