I'm looking for a manga I read around 2005. There's a guy who has the ability to see ghosts and supernatural beings. This girl goes to him for help because this thing is after her. I believe they call it a witch but it's not a normal human witch, it's this lumpy abomination that reminded me of a really messed up whale with a huge eye. When the girl was little she got lost in the woods and came upon this thing tied/ chained up. It makes a deal with her that if she frees it, it'll help her get home, but it will come back for her later. Now it's come back for her and it's floating in the air peeking at her from between the trees. Unfortunately at this point I got too scared and stopped reading and I've never been able to find it again. I got the impression it was a series where the guy solved different supernatural problems.

Okay it figures that after years of searching I would find it right after I post asking strangers for help. It was Mieru Hito. The creature was slightly different than I remembered, an evil spirit dolphin.
